Funeral Director Reveals Make-Up And Creams They Use On The Deceased

Lots of people are familiar with regular makeup brands, but have you ever wondered about what kind of products are used on dead people?

Me neither, to be honest, until the topic was brought up by TikTok user and funeral director Inez, who is based in the UK and offers her followers insights to life after death.

Inez has earned thousands of followers by chatting all things burials, afterlife and grief, and last month she educated viewers on the 'make up and creams' she uses as a funeral director when dealing with the bodies of the deceased.

Check out her video below:

Inez explained she starts off by giving bodies a wash with a flannel before applying a thick white cream, mainly concentrating on the 'eyes and lips because they tend to dry out a little bit more.' Surprisingly, Inez then touted the benefits of baby lotion when treating the deceased, as the cream proves gentle on the skin that is lacking moisture.

Another product the funeral director discussed was 'eye caps', which help keep the eyelids shut and the eyes looking 'nice and round'.

After discussing initial preparations, Inez turned her attention to makeup and explained that she personally doesn't like using products specially supplied for funeral directors as they can make the deceased look 'a bit rubbery'.

Instead, she opts for regular makeup used by living people every day, finding that it 'sits better on their skin' and can look 'very very natural and can even sometimes look like you haven't put any makeup on'.

Inez showed her choice of L'Oreal, Rimmel, Technic and Revlon foundations as well as a variety of pressed powders, noting that the 'makeup part is quite simple' and adding that she finds it to be the 'best part of the job'.

The funeral director has received praise from viewers for offering her insights, with one TikToker responding to the clip to say Inez is 'absolutely amazing', adding the 'love watching' her videos.

Another wrote: 'you are such a wonderfull [sic] lady not many people can do your job but wow you do it beautiful... I love listening to things that we wouldn't think.'

Responding to commenters, Inez explained that she typically only applies makeup once to the deceased, though she might top it up if family members want to come for other visits. If not, she removes the makeup and applies cream.

Alongside her video Inez stressed that 'all funeral directors are different', making clear that her process is simply formed by her preferences.
