Doctor Reacts To Bloodletting And Warns Against Doing It

A doctor has responded to a video of 'bloodletting' to warn people against the practice.

A doctor has responded to a video of 'bloodletting' to warn people against the practice, which even led to someone dying after they had it done.

Doctor Anthony Youn has taken to TikTok to raise awareness of a controversial medical treatment which sees patients left with blood spurting out of their forehead.

Warning: Prepare to turn away now to avoid spitting out your first few sips of alcohol which you have desperately waited for all of Dry January to consume, because this video is grim.

Accompanying a video originally posted by @Худияров Мерей Ноянулы which shows someone deliberately making a hole in a man's forehead resulting in blood pouring out, Youn can be heard clarifying to his followers that the method is known as 'bloodletting'.

The doctor explains: 'This is a practice that started upwards of 3,000 years ago. And although there are a couple of medical conditions that do require this as a treatment, it just isn't really widely done. George Washington actually died after having this done'.

A caption on the video noted how the practice has been used to aid conditions such as polycythaemia and hemochromatosis.

The post has since amassed over 13.8 million views, 600,000 likes, and 7,000 comments, with users expressing their shock over the practice. One said: 'WHY DOES IT COME OUT SO FAST.'

Another wrote: 'I dropped my phone and threw up', meanwhile, a third commented: 'A WARNING WOULDVE BEEN NICE SIR.'

Alongside doctors taking to TikTok to warn you about why not to stab a hold in the middle of a forehead, the platform has also been utilised by a lawyer, who has given advice on what to say to police if you're stopped for speeding.

And if you're not the sort of person who drives their vehicle over the limit, then why not take to TikTok to learn about something more day-to-day, such as how to dry your clothes in under two hours?

Or, in a bid to try and stem the nightmares which you will inevitably have after watching this video, according to one TikToker, you should grab yourself a bag of peas to help return to sleep.
