Woman who insisted her dog was vegetarian proved wrong in 'seconds' on live TV

Woman who insisted her dog was vegetarian proved wrong in 'seconds' on live TV

The dog wolfed down meat after being presented with it on ITV's This Morning.

Any dog owners will know their pups love meat, but that didn't stop one woman from claiming her dog was a vegetarian.

In fact, everyone knows that dogs will eat almost anything that is put in front of them - which is why it's super important to monitor what your pup is eating.

Well, Lucy Carrington decided to convert her beloved pooch to vegetarianism when she started giving Storm the Husky leftover veggies and meat-free dog grub back in 2018.

Storm had become tired of her previous food during a hot summer in the UK, so Lucy decided to mix it up.

Appearing on ITV's This Morning in the August of that year, Lucy decided to put her dog's loyalty to the veggie lifestyle to the test.

After chatting to hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes on the UK daytime show, two food bowls were presented.

One was filled with meat, while the other was stacked with veggies - Storm had a tough decision to make.

And perhaps unsurprisingly, the pup went straight into the meat, wolfing the food down without any hesitation whatsoever.

Storm didn't even look twice at the greens, giving them a quick sniff before chowing down the meat option.

Lucy claimed her her dog, Storm, was vegetarian.

"Oh you little... I didn't swear. In fairness the weather has cooled down quite dramatically," Lucy said in reaction to her dog's choice.

Holmes was having none of it though, as he said: "You say dogs can't make the choice, but on this programme they can make the choice."

The segment was part of a wider debate on This Morning about whether dogs can be vegetarians.

Vet Scott Miller, who still appears on This Morning today, explained how dogs are omnivores, so the diet change was denying the dog choice.

Being omnivores means that dogs eat both meat and plant products.

Just like Lucy claimed, it is theoretically possible for dogs to be vegetarians.

Storm, quite predictably, headed straight for the meat.

However, the British Veterinary Association does not recommend giving a dog a vegetarian or a vegan diet, "as it is much easier to get the balance of essential nutrients wrong than to get it right."

As for Storm, a lot of folks on social media found the whole This Morning segment pretty hilarious.

"I am roaring at Storm the 'vegetarian' dog eating all the meat," one person penned on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Lucy left the show admitting she would be feeding Storm meat again.

"If this is what she wants then obviously I'm going to adapt accordingly," she said.
