Here's the eye-watering amount of money Mariah Carey makes every hour from her Christmas classic 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.
December is officially here, and the festive season is now in full flow now that Thanksgiving is out of the way. Many will have or will be putting up the Christmas decorations in the coming days, and likely listening to some festive bangers in the process.
And if you're going to put a Christmas playlist on, there's no doubt 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' will be a part of it.
The record-breaking song took Carey and her songwriting partner Walter Afanasieff just 15 minutes to write and compose, and it's been regarded as a festive hit since its release over three decades ago in 1995.

While neither Carey nor her team have ever disclosed exactly how much she makes each year from the hit Christmas song, researchers and journalists have looked into the matter, and the results are truly astonishing.
As per a report by the New York Post, the singer is said to make a whopping $3 million every single year from the song, and as of 2021, that has amounted to over $60 million since the release of the Christmas song.
To put that into more extraordinary context, Carey makes $316 per hour from the song alone, which is an eye-watering amount considering the song is listened to for perhaps a couple of months every single year.

As well as stepping out to do her annual festive performances, Carey looks forward to the Christmas period for a long period of time, prepping for the big days months in advance.
"We go to Aspen, which is my favourite place to celebrate Christmas because it’s always snowy and it’s one of the best places ever," she said previously, as per the Sun.
"We do all sorts of things. We go on a sleigh ride with the kids and my extended family, I cook, Santa Claus comes over. I know it sounds like I’m making it up but it’s true — I know him personally, he’s my dude. We have live reindeer. It’s an extravaganza."

The success of 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' exceeded Carey's wildest expectations, saying to Billboard how she had 'no idea' the song would become such a worldwide phenomenon.
"How could I? It was so early on in my career and most young artists, at that time, weren’t really making Christmas music at the onset of their careers," she added.
