Chris Brown apologises to Robert Glasper for his 'rude and mean' outburst at Grammys

Chris Brown has taken to social media to share his apology to Grammy award winner Robert Glasper

Chris Brown has taken to social media to share his apology to Grammy award winner Robert Glasper.

At the 65th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday 5 February, Chris Brown saw himself up against Lucky Daye, Mary J. Blige, PJ Morton and Robert Glasper in the Best R&B Album Category.

Glasper took home the award with his album Black Radio III, and it's fair to say Brown wasn't best pleased, taking to social media to air his frustrations.

However, hindsight is a beautiful thing, and Brown has since apologised for his outburst and shared his message to Glasper on Instagram.

Uploading a direct message he sent to fellow R&B artist Glasper on his Instagram Story, Brown congratulated the Grammy award winner for his victory.

The message continues: "I would like to apologize if you took offense to my reaction at the Grammys... you were not the intended target and I know I came off really rude and mean.

"After doing my research I actually think your amazing.. THE ORGANIZATION ISNT DOING US BLACKS OUR DUE DILIGENCE. YOU AND I SHOULD never be in the Same categor.. two totally different vibes and genres.

"So from one black man to another.. CONGRATULATIONS.. HOPE YOU ARE ABLE TO FEED YOUR FAMILY FOR LIFE. God bless my G [sic]."

It's unclear whether or not Glasper has viewed the message or since responded.

Brown's initial reaction to Glasper's win - who is an American record producer, songwriter, arranger and pianist for those of you who didn't know - was indeed, by the 'Under the Influence' singer's own admission, fairly 'rude'.

Taking to his Instagram Stories after the awards ceremony, Brown screenshot a picture of Glasper off Google alongside the caption: "Yall playing. Who da f**k is this?"

While Brown didn't know who Glasper was at first, others in the music industry certainly did, with Glasper having worked with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller and Anderson .Paak.

Glasper also saw an outpouring of support online, with fans of the 'Better Than I Imagined' musician flooding to Twitter in outrage over Brown's comments.

One wrote: "Chris Brown not knowing who Robert Glasper is… is the reason all of Chris Brown songs sound the same."

Another commented: "Robert Glasper's Black Radio is probably one of the best R&B albums released in the last 10 years. The album is not only masterfully produced and cohesive it featured HER, Musiq Souldchild, Yebba, BG the Chicago Kid, PJ Morton, Ty Dolla Sign, Ant Clemons, Jennifer Hudson & more."

A final resolved: "The funniest thing about Chris Brown’s Grammy meltdown is also the saddest: Robert Glasper is an icon and this is an award voted on by your peers. You can dislike the outcome but posting about not knowing who he is only embarrasses you as an artist."
