Fantasy fans have been left confused by a viral poster showing Tom Holland as Link in an upcoming Legends of Zelda Netflix series.

While the streamer has become a hub for adapting video games, books and comics for its ever-growing library of content, this news will leave fans of the game extremely disappointed.

A collection of fake promotional posters of the cast of a Legend of Zelda series has gone viral on social media and quickly gained traction because they look so real.

Yo when is that Legend of Zelda series coming to Netflix?

— J.T. 🇱🇷 (@JuwleSupreme) October 11, 2022

As many gamers are aware, the Legends of Zelda video game centres on the character Link, whose blonde locks, elf ears and green outfit makes him instantly recognisable.

The character posters show all the main characters from the games, who resemble famous actors.

Wait, there is a Legend of Zelda series coming to Netflix?? OMG y’all won’t see me for MONTHS when it comes!!!

— Terry Warfield (@_terrywarfield) October 7, 2022

Link’s poster clearly shows the 26-year-old actor – who recently starred in the big screen adaptation of the video game Uncharted – giving his best smoulder.

While the other characters show Princess Zelda being played by Emma Watson, Idris Elba as Ganon, Maisie Williams as Saria, Meryl Streep as Twinrova, Gemma Chan as Great Fairy.

The full cast of @Netflix's live-action #Zelda series just dropped, revealing an all-star cast starring @TomHolland1996, @EmmaWatson, and @idriselba! 😱

It all looks extremely realistic and Netflix has never shied away from hiring an all-star cast for its big budget series.

Legend of Zelda fans reacted to the surprise ‘news’ on social media, with some even clearing their schedule for the foreseeable future to binge the show once it drops.

“Wait, there is a Legend of Zelda series coming to Netflix??” one excited fan tweeted. “OMG y’all won’t see me for MONTHS when it comes!!!”

“Yo when is that Legend of Zelda series coming to Netflix?” One man asked Twitter.

A third person tweeted: “Is Netflix really coming out with that legend of Zelda show?!?! I’m f***ing down for that”.

But not everyone was excited after seeing the posters, particularly one fan of another fantasy live-action adaptation of a cult classic. “please for the love of God do NOT give Netflix ideas about Legend of Zelda they already butchered The Winx Club and other s**t.”

Believe or not, Netflix is not working on a Legends of Zelda live-action series starring Tom Holland. It turns out the posters were created by Twitter user Dan Leveille using AI.

He literally wrote “JK” in his original tweet but somehow we all missed it.

Social media was fooled into thinking Tom Holland was starring in a Zelda series.

Leveille used Midjourney, an independent research lab which focuses on AI, design and infrastructure to make images with the AI system Dall-E, which is used to make realistic art, research lab Tencent Arc and good ol’ Photoshop.

Frankly we cant believe Netflix hasn’t jumped on a Legends of Zelda adaptation yet.
