HBO just dropped a teaser trailer for The Last Of Us series and fans have rightfully lost it.

Ah, The Last Of Us, one of the best games we've played in recent years, complete with a killer soundtrack and character's that'll break your heart - it's no wonder fans are excited about the upcoming TV series based on the Sony hit.

Prepare to get excited by the incredible trailer below:

Like the video game, the series will see Joel (Pedro Pascal), a skilled survivor, travel through the US as it is ravaged by a deadly disease.

On his way, he meets a young girl, Ellie (Bella Ramsey), who attempts to help him find a cure.

Fans were, naturally, incredibly excited to see their favourite game transformed for the silver screen, with one user writing: "the last of us is my favorite game series ever bro, im giggling and kicking my feet."

A second added that the series dropping was perfect filler while they wait for another fan favourite: "the last of us coming out in 2023 is perfect placement bc i can hyperfixate on that the entire time while waiting for stranger things season 5 in 2024."

Another joked that the series was actually just a trailer for Sony's next instalment of the game: "don't know why so many people are complaining about the Last of Us PS5 remake, I think it looks very realistic."

While one was just excited about the sheer volume of game to TV series coming up: "Uncharted this year and then Last of Us next year. Those are literally the only games I played (besides skyrim)."

However, some weren't convinced, worried that the series might lose some of the magical atmosphere that the game conjures so wonderfully: "The trailer for The Last of Us HBO series didn’t do it for me at all. I genuinely don’t think it looks very good based on the trailer. I think it will be impossible for a tv production to achieve the mood and atmosphere of the games. We’ll see."

The series is expected to drop in 2023 and we can't wait to see how the story unfolds.

Superfans of The Last of Us will not miss out on the global excitement with each instalment available at the same time as the US premiere each week and on demand thereafter.

The Last of Us is coming exclusively to HBO, Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in 2023.
