It's no longer Sophie's choice.

The next episode of HBO Max’s The Last of Us will drop a little earlier thanks to the Super Bowl.

Oh, happy days!

Episode five of the series based on the hugely popular 2013 game will now be released on Friday, February 10 instead of having to compete with the highly anticipated NFL game, which will take place on Sunday February 12.

So, just in case you’re a big fan of the post-apocalyptic drama and want to see Eagles and Chiefs battle it out - HBO has answered your prayers.

News of the latest episode dropping sooner than expected has delighted fans around the world.

One person wrote on Twitter: “Best thing about the Super Bowl is that we get this two days early.”

Another said: “The best episode arriving I fear.”

While a third shared: “WE EATING GOOD THIS WEEK, BABY.”

For those of you who have been living under a rock, The Last of Us follows Joel (played by Pedro Pascal), a skilled survivor, traveling through the US 20 years after a deadly and contagious fungus broke out.

He meets Ellie (Bella Ramsey) during his journey, and the two work together to survive in the dangerous post-apocalyptic world.

The series, which premiered on HBO Max on January 15, attracted a staggering 4.7 million viewers on the first day.

So far, the show has received rave reviews, with The Independent calling it 'undoubtedly a new landmark in the seemingly impossible task of adapting video games'.

Writer for the Daily Beast Nick Schager said it the best TV adaption of a video game series.

Impressively, the show has already been renewed for a second season despite only releasing four episodes thus far.

Last month, HBO announced season two, with showrunner Neil Druckmann expressing how ‘overwhelmed’ he was by the positive reception.

“I’m humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey,” he said in a press release obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.

"The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!”

You can currently stream The Last of Us on Binge and Foxtel in Australia, Sky Atlantic in the UK and HBO Max in the US.
