Tara Reid shuts down possibility of new American Pie movie

We had high hopes for this!

Tara Reid has shut down rumours of a new American Pie film.

Reid, 47 - who played Vicky in the original franchise - has said that while there is a lot of talk behind the scenes of a fifth movie, she doesn't think there will be another.

Reid starred as Vicky in the first American Pie movie, which was released in 1999. She also appeared in American Pie 2 in 2001 and American Pie Reunion which was released in 2012.

And while she had previously said a fifth movie would happen, it looks like the dream is officially over.

Speaking to host Jordan Power on his podcast, Unmentionable, she was asked if there would ever be a fifth American Pie movie.

She said: "I don't think so. There are so many rumours about it but there's a lot of stuff behind the scenes that no-one's really agreed with, so I'm not sure if it's going to happen.

"Maybe in like 50 years when we're all in wheelchairs or something. Right now that's not the focus."

Fans have been speculating that the movie would be happening after filmmaker Sujata Day wrote on social media that a film was in the works following an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"Obsessed with raunchy comedies and American Pie is one of my all time faves! So excited to be working on this movie," she wrote back in September.

Reid was also previously very optimistic about the sequel happening just last year.

In April 2021, while speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Reid teased that the movie 'might happen' before saying a fifth instalment in the franchise was definitely in the works.

"OK, I can't tell you when, because I don't really know when, because we have to get all the actors and at the same time to get our schedules together," she said.

"There is a script out there... I'll put it that way."

Reid went on to explain that she's also read the script and believes it to be 'one of the best ones'.

"It's amazing. This will happen, I just don't know when. But it will happen," she continued.

During the interview, she explained the cast still keep in touch, adding: "We all stay in touch in different ways.

"... When you grow up with someone and you get your first breaks with someone, you can never forget that."
