Sydney Sweeney works as a mechanic on the side when she's not acting

Despite loving vintage cars from an early age, it was a few years before Euphoria's Sydney Sweeney actually got under the hood.

Sydney Sweeney has revealed that she's ‘obsessed’ with vintage cars and even worked as a mechanic in a body shop when she wasn't busy with her acting.

The Euphoria star admitted that she fell into the hobby during a break from the hit HBO show, begging a family friend for a space in their body shop.

Despite often playing women who are afraid to get their hands dirty, Sweeney is, ironically, the polar opposite in real life.

Over the last two years, the 25-year-old actor has been regularly rolling up her sleeves as she lovingly restores her vintage cherry-red 69’ Bronco.

The incredible renovation has become such as passion project for Sweeney that she set up a Tik Tok account - @syds_garage - to show off her work, most of which she’s done solo.

Her dedication has even caught the attention of car manufacturer Ford and clothing brand Dickies, with the White Lotus star collaborating with them on her own line of utility wear.

Speaking about the new range and her love of cars to BAZAAR.com, she confessed that she’d been in love with cars from an early age.

"I've always been a huge fan of vintage vehicles," she gushed, adding: "My babysitters (twin sisters) when I was little actually used to be race car drivers, and I'd go to the track a lot, and I thought I was going to be a race car driver when I grew up."

Despite this, it would be several decades until Sweeney got under the hood herself.

Now, she dedicates most of her time off to her hobby and works on her vintage vehicles during her time away from filming on set - with her most recent venture being in Australia filming with Glen Powell.

“I’m obsessed with cars, especially vintage vehicles. When I started filming Euphoria, I wanted to do something on my off time,” she confessed during the Actually Me interview for GQ.

However, the actor wasn’t satisfied with just restoring her car at home and even begged a family friend for time in his garage, so she could train as a mechanic.

“My best friend’s Dad, Rod Emory, he builds and restores classic Porches,” she continued: “I brought it [the Branco] to his shop and he cleared out a section for me.

"I changed the transmission, I changed all the brakes, all the interior – pretty much everything on the car.”

Since then, Sweeney has bought a second Branco in baby blue – which she lovingly calls Britney.

Please can someone cast her as the new host of Pimp My Ride.
