Supernatural Star 'Lucky To Be Alive' After 'Very Bad' Car Accident

Jensen Ackles said Jared Padalecki is 'lucky to be alive' after the crash

Supernatural star Jared Padalecki had to pull out of a public appearance after a 'very bad' car accident.

The actor, who played Sam Winchester in the hit CW show, was recently involved in a collision which saw him cancel his participation in a weekend-long convention in New Jersey dedicated to all things Supernatural.

No details have been shared about the specifics of the crash, nor is it clear what injuries Padalecki sustained in the incident. But according to his on-screen brother, he's on the mend.

Check out a clip of Jensen Ackles talking about the crash below:

In footage shared from a panel over the weekend, Ackles can be seen explaining to fans what happened to his co-star and that he's resting up at home.

Ackles, who's due to make his debut in The Boys as Soldier Boy, told fans Padalecki was in a 'very bad car accident', and that he 'wasn't driving, he was in the passenger seat'. Fortunately, there weren't any fatalities as a result of the incident.

He said: "He's lucky to be alive. And not only that, but he's a home recovering which - the fact that he's not in a hospital right now is blowing my mind because I saw the car."

Padalecki is 'recovering' and 'sent his love' to the attending fans while he tries to get back in better shape, but it seems he's more than earned the right to take it easy for a little while.

Ackles continued: "That airbag packs a punch," with Padalecki telling him it felt like he "went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson."

Thankfully, Ackles said he's 'doing okay. He's moving around. Just keep him in your thoughts, send him some love if you get a chance on social and he'll be back with us soon'.

"He'll be back messing up mic stands before we know it. It'll be great."

Padalecki also tweeted: "Hey #SpnFamily! Sorry to miss y’all in NYC this weekend. Thank you and the #WalkerFamily for all the love and support. Can’t wait to see y’all again."

Hashtags like #WeLoveYouJaredPadalecki and #GetWellSoonJared have been spreading online as fans take to Twitter to wish the actor well.

One user wrote: "Jared gives so much of himself to everyone he loves. I hope he takes the time and rest he needs to take care of himself."

Another wrote: "I don't even have words to express my relief and gratitude that you're alive and well. The world would be the darkest place without your light in it. I'm thankful for your life and will never take it for granted."
