A brilliant show is like an earwig song.

And just like that song you can’t get out of your head and find yourself humming, a great TV show - especially a thought-provoking thriller - will have you thinking about it at all hours.

Whether it be theories on what’s going to happen next, re-running that amazing scene you saw last night, or just plain thinking about when you can next get the time to watch it – a 10/10 show has that ability to get stuck in your head.

That is the case for an Apple TV+ show which is not only being called a '10/10', is not only leaving viewers up all night binging it - but has some calling it 'one of the best TV shows ever'.

The concept is simple enough but completely mind boggling at the same time.

If you could switch off your brain completely whilst at work, would you?

Check out the trailer and on the concept alone – I’d be shocked if you aren’t hooked:

The show in question is Severance and if you haven’t got onto it sooner, now’s your chance.

If you could send a separate version of your consciousness into work, so that as far as you know, you walk into work one second and back out the door the next, would you?

If you immediately said yes, Severance asks an utterly creepy question. What happens to that separate version of yourself that only exists at work?

Created for AppleTV+, the show stars Parks and Recreation’s Adam Scott, with season one’s episodes all being directed by either Ben Stiller (yes that one), or Aoife McArdle.

The reviews for the AppleTV+ show were absolutely stellar, with a 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a whopping 8.7 average rating on IMDb.

Severance also isn’t a show that starts hot and peters out, with the season finale receiving an average rating of 9.7 on IMDb.

For context, that’s more than everyone single season finale of Game of Thrones except one.

One fan on Reddit posted on the subreddit r/SeveranceAppleTVPlus to say: “I binged Severance for the first time yesterday. I’m losing my mind.”

They went on to say: “I watched the first two episodes a couple days ago was instantly hooked.

"But yesterday I had a good chunk of free time and spent my entire evening watching the rest of the series from episode 3.

“OH MY GOD. It’s literally the only thing on my mind right now. There’s so much crazy sh*t and I can’t believe I didn’t discover this show sooner.”

Another fan on Twitter said: “I’m always so surprised at how many people haven’t seen Severance, it’s literally one of the best tv shows ever, everyone needs to get on it!”

The show will be returning in 2025. (Apple TV+)

Writing for The Guardian, Lucy Mangan gave it a perfect five stars, saying: “An impressively idiosyncratic thing, wholly itself and confident in its mission to make your mind implode.”

The best thing too?

If you start now, you don’t have to wait long for season two, with the second instalment coming to AppleTV+ in January 2025.
