Sarah Shahi says she'll never work for Netflix again as she criticises Sex/Life season 2

The actor has been brutally honest about the recently dropped second season of Sex/Life

Sex/Life star Sarah Shahi has revealed that she didn’t 'get the support' that she got in the first season of the Netflix show and is unlikely to work with the streaming giant again.

Shahi, 43, plays protagonist Billie in the bingeable and very 'hot under the collar' Netflix show, Sex/Life.

The romantic drama first aired on Netflix in 2021 and stars Shahi alongside Adam Demos, Mike Vogel and Wallis Day.

The recently released second season of the drama picks up just six months after the events of season one, and you can expect break-ups, make-ups, big reveals, and shattering life truths.

Did we forget to say some steamy sex scenes, too?

Shahi recently appeared on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast where she talked to host Amanda Hirsch about Black Adam and the recently dropped second season of Sex/Life.

During the chat, she got candid with Hirsch about the realities of filming the second season of the raunchy Netflix drama: “I definitely did not have the support that I did in the first season.”

“It became a much different thing for me, and I’m not afraid to say that,” the actor continued.

“I struggled with the material… I mean, I’m never going to work for Netflix again now after saying all this. I just can’t lie.”

After making the initial shock admission, Shahi delved further, saying she believed Sex/Life season 2 was 'very gimmicky'.

“Those kinds of things for me are always really hard to read and do and stuff like that, but I didn’t have to do them. The boys did... But yeah, it’s a little bit more gimmicky for me.

“I don’t know. Things just felt different for me this year, and I had a hard time because of that.”

Shahi also went on to say that she missed working with her co-star and real-life boyfriend Demos, who plays Billie's ex-beau, Brad.

“I wasn’t able to work with him as much because I really liked our stories. And I liked working with him. And he was a brilliant scene partner," she explained.

But while Shahi isn’t too keen on returning, showrunner Stacy Rukeyser has already said she’s looking to season three and beyond

“She [Shahi’s character Billie] will be back in that situation again of being a new mom… is there a way to be all parts of yourself at once," she said to the Hollywood Reporter. "It’s a whole Sex/Life dilemma that I think is really interesting.”

Shahi voiced her frustrations over not having a lot of screen time with real-life boyfriend Adam Demos, who plays her character's ex-lover in the show.

At this moment in time, a third season of Sex/Life has not been confirmed.

However earlier in March, Rukeyser told The Hollywood Reporter: “Netflix has two calls. One is after 10 days and one is after 28 days. And that’s when your fate is decided.”

Despite Shahi’s lamentation about Sex/Life’s second season, the actor says that if she “could be Billie for five seasons, I would. I feel her struggle so much in life, and it’s like therapy for me to play Billie.”

You can stream Sex/Life season 1 and 2 on Netflix now.
