Woman kicked out of home on Christmas Eve after making family watch R-rated movie

It's probably best to stick to Home Alone next time...

Ah Christmas, the time for coming together and celebrating - or chucking someone out on the eve of the big day over their controversial movie choice.

There's always some sort of family argument on Christmas but one woman kicked off the festive friction early ahead of the big day after putting on a film which saw her banished outside.

The banishing

Taking to Twitter, a user - @applekaurr - detailed the events in a series of tweets, starting with a post on Christmas Eve explaining she was having 'movie day with the fam' and had been tasked with making the choice of what to watch.

Alas, less than half-an-hour into the movie and things took a turn for the worst.

She wrote: "It has been turned off & i’ve been told to go for a walk."

The post was accompanied by a screenshot of a text she'd been sent by her mom, reading: "When you come back I want you to apologise to everyone you d**khead."

But what film could've been so bad to deserve such a banishing? Cue Barry Keoghan.

The R-rated film

The film is none other than 2023 release Saltburn, written, directed and co-produced by Emerald Fennell.

It follows Oxford University student, Oliver Quick (Keoghan) as he becomes obsessed with wealthy fellow student (Jacob Elordi) who invites him to spend the summer at his family's estate.

And while the film proffers many talking points about class divides, obsession and wealth, a major factor of the film which has been discussed online are the number of R-rated scenes littered throughout the movie.

Even if you've yet to see it, you've probably heard about the 'bathtub scene' - not exactly a family-friendly or festive film choice.

And it hasn't taken long for social media users to weigh in on the Twitter users' debacle after putting on Saltburn with her family on Christmas Eve.

One person wrote: "They should make you clean the tub as punishment."

Another said: "Seeing it be near the top of [Amazon] Prime most watched during the Christmas weekend like 'oh they're ruining a LOT of family gatherings' and I'm so glad to hear I was right."

And a third commented: "Watched it as well today, mom joined me halfway through and told me i need psychiatric help for sitting through the entire thing."

The original poster later revealed which scene was the final straw for her traumatized clan. "It was the bath scene that did it," she confirmed.

Maybe stick to Home Alone or Love Actually next time around...
