The Simpsons has long been known as a family TV show that has been able to mysteriously predict real-life events, but fans now think one episode was inspired by the late Jeffrey Epstein, who has been making global headlines in the last few months.
From the rise of AI, to the pandemic, and even Donald Trump's presidential run, Matt Groening’s world-famous cartoon has been hitting the nail on its head for some time.
But ever since the release of the latest batch of three million Epstein files, which include the names of many famous and powerful people, fans have come out to suggest that there’s a connection between the convicted pedophile, Groening, and the show's predictions.
Inclusion in the files does not suggest wrongdoing, it must be noted.

“The Simpsons were the first to tell us about the Epstein Files,” said one social media user, as another declared: “The Simpsons warned the world about the orgies on Epstein’s island.”
A 25-year-old episode appears to nod to Epstein’s island, a place that Groening allegedly flew to with Epstein on his ‘Lolita Express’ jet.

The 2000 episode in question is titled ‘The Computer Wore Menace Shoes’, and features Homer coming to discover the internet and decides to set up a gossip blog under the alias of Mr X.
There, he writes about secrets he hears around Springfield, and even wins a prize for his journalistic investigations. However, when he reveals his identity during the prize collection, people stop sending him tips, and so he has to make up his own gossip to keep readers interested.
This includes one outlandish tale that was inadvertently true, leading to him being kidnapped by powerful people and held on an island.
Through trials and dangerous situations, Homer escapes, and warns people on Mr X that ‘creeps on an island somewhere’ are ‘secretly running the world’.
As it turns out, this wasn’t a far off claim, as 25 years later, the world found out that Epstein was trafficking underage girls and inviting the rich and famous to Little Saint James and Great Saint James, known as Epstein Island.
This is a detail that hasn’t been lost on TV viewers.
One person wrote: “Matt Groening put Epstein in The Simpsons. Virginia Giuffre wrote about being on Epstein’s plane with Groening and having to massage his sweaty feet!!”
And another added: “So the creator of The Simpsons was on the Epstein file #EpsteinFiles. It’s all making sense now, the whole show was not predicting s**t it was just an inside joke among the pedophiles….”
Per the Department of Justice documents, Groening is mentioned a number of times in the files, and prominent Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre (then Roberts) claimed in her memoir that Epstein forced her to give a foot massage to The Simpsons creator on the Lolita Express jet.
Giuffre took her own life in 2025 after being a prominent accuser of both Epstein and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

As for what the show has previously said about its spot-on predictions, writer Al Jean previously claimed there's a simple explanation for it.
Speaking to NME, he said: “One of our writers, the guy whose episode predicted Donald Trump as president, said it best, ‘If you write 700 episodes and you don’t predict anything, then you’re pretty bad.
"If you throw enough darts, you’re going to get some bullseyes'."
