Owen Wilson reveals the top five films of his career

Speaking to UNILAD, Hollywood veteran Owen Wilson shared what he believes to be the top five films he's starred in

Owen Wilson is one of the biggest names in Hollywood and made his acting debut over 30 years ago.

Over the last three decades, the well-loved actor is thought to have starred in over 60 movies and has co-starred alongside the likes of Ben Stiller, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, and Vince Vaughn (to name a few).

While Wilson has a long list of credits to his name, it took him no time to pick out some of his top five movies — some of which may come as a surprise.

Wilson sat down to chat with UNILAD ahead of the release of his new AppleTV+ series titled Stick, which landed on the streaming platform on June 4.

It was during this chat we asked him about what he believes to be the top five films of his career so far, and we can now reveal all as part of this week's UNILAD RANKED.

1996 movie Bottle Rocket was the first film on Wilson's list.

He said of the movie: "I'd have to start with Bottle Rocket because that was the first movie that I ever worked on, and that was, you know, with my brothers and Wes [Anderson] directing."

Both of Wilson's brothers, Andrew (Whip It) and Luke (Legally Blonde) starred in the movie alongside him.

Not only was Bottle Rocket Wilson's first film, it was also the first from director Wes Anderson. The pair have gone on to work on more films like The French Dispatch, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Rushmore together.

A movie with both Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan... what's not to love?!

When chatting to UNILAD, Wilson said he 'really likes' Shanghai Noon, which hit theaters 25 years ago.

The comedy/action movie is about a Chinese man that travels to the Wild West to rescue a kidnapped Princess. After teaming up with a train robber, the unlikely duo takes on a Chinese traitor and his corrupt boss.

Lucy Lieu (Charlie's Angels) stars as Princess Pei Pei in the film, with Chan (Rush Hour) playing the lead of Chon Wang. Wilson plays robber, Roy O'Bannon.

3) Wedding Crashers

Of course Wedding Crashers deserved a place in Wilson's top five favorite films, with the actor stating that he 'loved' making the movie.

The 00s comedy classic boasts a star-studded cast with Rachel McAdams (The Notebook), Vince Vaughn (Bad Monkey), Isla Fisher (Now You See Me), and Christopher Walken (Catch Me If You Can) featuring in it.

Per the title of the movie, Wedding Crashers is about two friends who frequently crash strangers' weddings in the hopes of hooking up with some of the single, female guests.

Boasting 7/10 on IMDb and 75 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, Wedding Crashers is a must-watch for any comedy fan.

2) The Darjeeling Limited

Anderson got another shout-out in what Wilson believes to be his top five movies with The Darjeeling Limited.

"I love being in India, and I like the story about brothers," Wilson said about making the 2007 film, which also features Adrian Brody (The Pianist) and Jason Schwartzman (Klaus).

The synopsis given on IMDb reads: "A year after their father's funeral, three brothers travel across India by train in an attempt to bond with each other."

While it has 69 percent on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, The Darjeeling Limited has a more favorable score of 78 percent on its Popcornmeter.

"Charming and heartfelt, this voyage through India is a wonderful trip. And it has an incredible soundtrack," wrote one reviewer on the platform, while someone else said that it was 'still one of my fav movies of all time'.

1) Midnight in Paris

While Wilson didn't list Midnight in Paris in the number one spot specifically, we felt it was only necessary to do so with its impressive 93 percent Rotten Tomatoes score in mind.

The movie is still deemed a comedy, but Midnight in Paris is more significantly romantic than some of Wilson's other movies.

The actor portrays a screenwriter in the film who visits Paris with his fianceé (Rachel McAdams) and her family. When touring The City of Love on his own, he finds himself mysteriously going back to the 1920s every day at midnight. It's then that he meets Adriana (Marion Cotillard).

Following his frequent visits back in time, Wilson's character finds himself becoming dissatisfied with his present-day life...

Midnight in Paris is currently streaming on Prime Video.
