The sequel to a 'highly underrated' movie on Netflix has got fans divided over whether it's a worthy follow up.

In the first movie, which was released in 2019, we follow the story of several different levels inside a prison.

It begins at the top floor and follows a supply pallet of food as it's lowered down through the prison.

So, while those in the upper levels of late stage capitalist society, sorry I mean 'the prison', get rich and indulgent meals, those in the lower classes, I mean 'prison levels', get increasingly more hungry and desperate.

This is, of course, The Platform, which proved very popular on Netflix and garnered an impressive score of 80% on reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

The film's success has now led to a sequel being released, which further explores the themes around the first instalment.

But like many sequels *cough* Star Wars *cough*, the movie has left fans divided.

Speaking about why they liked the first movie so much, one person wrote: "If you loved Parasite please watch The Platform. Watch it if you like Bong Joon Ho‘s films, if you hate capitalism, if you love horror films, if you’re bored, if you support socialism or if you’ve run out of stuff to watch. Just watch #ThePlatform."

But as is often the case with sequels, fans were not sure whether they loved or hated it, and there was a lot of disagreement.

Many people took to the comments on Facebook to share their conflicting thoughts on the movie.

One had only good things to say about the new sequel, writing: "What! I don't understand your ratings! I thought it was epic! 8.5/10! Fan of the first one, and I'd only recommend to watch it with original Spanish audio and subtitles. I can't stand dubbed!

"Thoroughly enjoyed this. Just finished it. What next? Haha"

Others were more mid in their responses, with one commenting: "It’s a psychological thriller. It met the expectations I had, I liked it. It’s messed up and gross, that’s kinda in the scope of that genre."

Meanwhile a second said: "I think the first one was way better."

But some people were thoroughly unimpressed by the new movie.

One fan wrote: "I started to like it in the beginning, but the movie prolonged you got confusing, Then I figured it out. It was a prequel. It was so disappointing. It was like they were trying to put so many different ideas."
