Band of Brothers fans are flooding to social media in excitement over the follow-up miniseries' cast.

With 2001 war drama Band of Brothers seeing stars such as Damian Lewis, Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy and James McAvoy take to the screen, it's a tough act for Masters of the Air's cast to follow.

However, the upcoming Apple TV+ miniseries, produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, has already sent people into a frenzy over its casting choices.

Prepare to start counting down the days for its release immediately.

Masters of the Air follows on from Band of Brothers as well as 2010 release The Pacific.

It's based on Donald L Miller's 2007 book of the same name and is scripted by John Orloff.

The official synopsis by Apple TV+ Press states: "Masters of the Air follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the 'Bloody Hundredth') as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air.

"Portraying the psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich, is at the heart of Masters of the Air.

"Some were shot down and captured; some were wounded or killed. And some were lucky enough to make it home. Regardless of individual fate, a toll was exacted on them all."

And if that wasn't enough to draw you in, well, wait until you see the cast.

Austin Butler heads up the young cast.

The main cast features a plethora of young, up-and-coming actors - some of who you will 100 percent recognise.

None other than Elvis star Austin Butler takes on the role of Major Gale Cleven, joined by Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Fantastic Beasts actor Callum Turner as Major John Egan.

Tolkien star Anthony Boyle portrays Major Harry Crosby and Jude Law's son, Raff Law, takes on his first major tv role as Sgt. Ken Lemmons.

Sex Education star and recently announced new Doctor Who, Ncuti Gatwa plays 2nd Lt. Robert Daniels, Top Boy's Barry Keoghan plays the role of Lt. Curtis Biddick and Nate Mann, Major Robert Rosenthal.

And people are flocking to social media in praise of the 'stellar' cast.

One X - formerly known as Twitter - user said: "The wait for masters of the air is literally driving me insane.. the cast is so good! It’s the BoB producers and writers!! Pls just hand it over I’m begging you."

"Wow, can't wait to see Masters of the Air! The star-studded cast and the involvement of Spielberg, Hanks, and Goetzman make it a highly anticipated series. Marking my calendar for January 2024!" Another added.

And a third commented: "Yeah this is some dream casting and the premise of the movie makes it even more exciting.

"Super excited for Masters of The Air Spielberg's new war series coming to Apple TV this winter with another fantastic cast with Austin in a lead role."

Masters of the Air is set to premiere on 26 January, 2024.
