Matt LeBlanc pays heartbreaking tribute to Friends co-star Matthew Perry

The actor who played Joey shared his tribute after Matthew Perry was found dead in Los Angeles

Matt LeBlanc has shared a heartfelt tribute to Matthew Perry following the death of his Friends co-star.

LeBlanc took to Instagram to share his tribute more than two weeks after Perry, who played Chandler in Friends, was found dead at his home in Los Angeles.

The two actors starred as best friends for 10 years on the show between 1994 and 2004, sharing everything from pets to pizza, clothes and girlfriends.

Perry has previously opened up about how he was struggling with drug addiction throughout his time on Friends, but LeBlanc made clear that didn't stop the pair from being close in real life.

On Instagram, the actor who played Joey shared a series of still-images from his time with Perry on Friends.

Alongside the images, LeBlanc wrote: "Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life.

"It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never.

"Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love."

In true Friends fashion, LeBlanc also managed to get a joke into his post as he ended his caption: "And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me."

LeBlanc's post comes after he and his other Friends co-stars shared a joint statement about the loss of Perry in the days after his death.

"We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family," the group wrote.

"There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

"In time we will say more, as and when we are able.

"For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

Perry was found dead in his hot tub at his home at the age of 54.

After he opened up about his drug addiction in his book, Friends, Lovers and The Big Terrible Thing, police confirmed there was no evidence of drugs at the scene where he passed away.

LeBlanc joined Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow earlier this month, as they gathered with other friends and former co-stars to say goodbye at Perry's funeral.
