Disney fans have just realized who Andy's mom from Toy Story really is

Fans have been shocked to make the discovery

Disney fans reckon they've worked out who Andy's mom from Toy Story really is.

The nostalgic movie series has been capturing hearts since the release of its first instalment in 1995.

The beloved animated franchise is the third-highest-grossing of all time, raking in $3.3 billion worldwide.

And while we've all watched Andy grow up in emotional scenes over the years, I bet his mom's childhood has never crossed your mind.

Well, fans reckon Andy's mom is actually the star of another popular children's movie.

One eagle-eyed fan took to social media to highlight the clever ways multiple Disney movies appear to be linked.

Instagram user @asheleysspam posted a video showing how Toy Story, Bugs Life, Turning Red, Inside Out, and Monster’s Inc seem to belong in the same universe.

While you might not think they’re interlinked, Asheley sure did provide the receipts, and she realized that Andy’s mom is actually the sweet kid from Inside Out.

You can't deny it - Riley from Inside Out looks just like Andy's mom as a child.

They both have fair hair and blue eyes, and even their bone structures are super similar.

Surely, that's not just a coincidence...

The theory runs even deeper than appearances, though, as Asheley shows there's a moment from Inside Out where Joy pulls up a little happy memory orb from Riley which shows her going down a slide as a toddler.

Asheley checked the playground in Toy Story, and guess what? It's the same slide set!

If that's not enough to convince you, there's even more proof.

Asheley linked Boo from Monster’s Inc through a blurred poster in Inside Out on Riley’s bedroom wall, which appears to match the boyband group from Turning Red.

Then, there's a character in the film about puberty who looks like a slightly older version of Boo, wearing purple.

It goes full circle when Asheley pulls up a scene in Toy Story showing a kid in nursery who also looks like Boo.

Naturally, people on social media had a lot to say about the theory - and not everyone agreed.

One person wrote: "yo WHAT," as another said: “NO WAY THATS CRAZY.”

But some were cynical, as one person suggested: “Or maybe, hear me out ... Disney wanted to take shortcuts and reused assets?”

Another wrote: “Disney movies are all connected in some sort of way and yes they reuse many things.”

In fairness, Asheley could just be pointing out the classic Disney ‘Easter Eggs’, which is just like a little nod to each film in other movies.

Maybe it's not that deep after all...

Another issue people pointed out was that the movies' timelines don't actually match up.

A user on Reddit clarified in a similar thread which asked if the two characters were the same people as they look very alike.

This user pointed out the difference in technology, writing: "Riley has a laptop in the movie, meaning it probably takes place around now-ish. So that would mean that Toy Story takes place in around 2035ish? Not very likely."
