Movie fan spots hidden Barbie movie reference to iconic doll's historic rival franchise Bratz

People are flooding to social media in excitement over the Bratz reference in the Barbie movie pointed out by a 'movie detective'

People are flooding to social media in excitement over the Bratz reference in the Barbie movie pointed out by a 'movie detective'.

You were one or the other - Bratz or Barbie - and I was always a Bratz girl.

No shade on Barbie, but the Bratz dolls were just cooler - the slick make-up, big hair and edgier clothes.

You may have thought the rivalry between Bratz and Barbie ended when you grew too old for your dolls and left them behind as you entered high school, but fear not, because the drama may be about to be reignited by an Easter egg in Greta Gerwig's Barbie.

Pointed out by TikTok 'movie detective' Ivan Mars - @its_ivanmars - the social media user has shared footage from the film that shows Barbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) rollerskating and then a clip of Barbie when she goes to school.

Wearing a matching shirt to Barbie and Ken's brightly colored retro rollerskating outfits, Ivan narrates: "It took me three times at the cinema to notice this in the Barbie movie...

"The four girls at the high school that don't like Barbie...

"Represent the original four Bratz dolls."

And that's not all.

The high school students who don't like Barbie have the same names as the original four Bratz dolls.

Ivan goes on to explain that not only do the four high school students 'look similar' but they also 'have the same names' as the original four Bratz dolls: Sasha, Jade, Yasmin and Chloe.

The movie detective questions: "So it's a reference to Barbie's historic enemies?"

Well, the video has since been viewed over 40 million times and has amassed over four million likes, so clearly Ivan isn't the only one to think the Barbie movie is definitely throwing some shade at its biggest rival.

Bratz fans have swarmed to the post in excitement over the Easter egg, eager for the reference to reignite the war between the dolls.

One TikTok user commented: "Bratz better come out with a movie asap I need a clap back. I’m here for the drama."

"Barbie vs Bratz: Infinity War," Ivan responded.

A second said: "I SAW THAT IMMEDIATELY. I like Barbie but I’ve always been a Bratz girl."

"And they were being brats," a third added.

A fourth wrote: "Her mom also called her bunny boo or some thing like that which was Sasha the Bratz Dolls' nickname."

While a final resolved: "Good to know that I'm not the only one who went three times."
