An Amazon Prime Video series labeled an 'absolute must-watch' is so absorbing, fans are begging for a second season.
The streaming platform is home to some gripping original dramas, including a thriller series Stephen King hailed 'bone-shaking and terrifying'.
And if you’re after your next binge-worthy obsession, this TV series is well worth a watch.

Starring Maggie Q, it follows an LAPD detective leading the overworked yet severely underfunded cold case division within the Robbery‑Homicide Unit.
Amazon's synopsis reads: “As she peels back layers of crimes spanning decades, including a serial killer’s string of murders and a murdered John Doe, she soon uncovers a dangerous conspiracy within the LAPD.
"With the help of her volunteer team and retired detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), Detective Ballard navigates personal trauma, professional challenges, and life-threatening dangers to expose the truth.”
The series is a spin-off to 'underrated' police procedural drama Bosch, which, too, counts Stephen King among its fans.
It's called Ballard, named after protagonist Renee Ballard, played by Maggie.

Critics over on Rotten Tomatoes awarded Ballard a perfect 100 percent, as they gave their verdict.
"A crisp procedural with a magnetic lead in Maggie Q, Ballard is a worthy sibling series to Bosch that comes with its own unique strengths," their consensus read.
Fans awarded it just 77 percent in comparison, as one who gave it five stars hailed it 'terrific in every way'.

"Absolute must watch!" a second said. "Engaging, a true slow burn that keeps you on edge and wanting more."
"I was riveted every moment of every episode," a third weighed in, adding: "My only criticism is that I wish they'd filmed more episodes for season one."
And they weren't alone. "More more more please," another social media user begged, as somebody else echoed: "Highly recommend and hope there's another season to come."
The discussion continued over on Reddit, where one fan said: "Great show. Hope it gets a second season since it ended on a HUUUUUGE cliffhanger."
Will there be a Ballard season two?

As of yet, a second instalment of the popular show is yet to be announced.
But considering the show only just aired in July, it could still be early days, with plenty of time for Amazon Prime Video to confirm a second season.
Adding to the optimism, star Maggie Q has openly hinted that there’s already a solid game plan for a follow-up.
Speaking to Men’s Journal, she said the creative team has 'a great lineup for season two, story-wise,” and admitted she’s hopeful about returning.

In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she went even further, suggesting that if the show gets the green light, cameras could roll as early as fall 2025.
Considering the show also finished on a cliffhanger and dominated Prime Video's most-watched charts, it's probably worth getting your hopes up.
Ballard is streaming now on Prime Video.
