Fans of Star Wars' Ahsoka series have said the new season is going to be 'wild' after learning that an iconic character from the original trilogy of movies will be making a comeback.

It's been almost two years now since the release of Ahsoka season one on Disney+ back in 2023, but the TV series was quickly described as having 'some of the best storytelling ever' by fans as they dove back into the huge and beloved world of Star Wars.

One fan went as far as to describe the show as their 'favorite Star Wars series to date', and viewers will no doubt be glad to know that the series has now started filming again for season two.

Details of the upcoming season were revealed in the recent Star Wars Celebration panel which took place in Japan, when it was revealed that Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) would be making a comeback for Ahsoka season 2 - but he's not the only familiar face fans can expect to see.

And to give you a hint, this is not a trap.

That's right - during the event, it was revealed that Admiral Ackbar - who spoke his iconic 'It's a trap!' line in Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi - will be appearing in the series, and he's set to go head-to-head with the show’s main villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Admiral Ackbar obviously didn't meet the best fate in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but Ahsoka gives him another shot at screen time after Thrawn escaped his planetary prison, leaving Admiral Ackbar to team up with Ezra and try to keep him at bay.

Ahsoka showrunner Dave Filoni spoke about the return of the beloved character during the Star Wars Celebration, saying: "Ackbar fits perfectly into the timeline of the show. In the Legends stories, he played a major role in the war between the New Republic and the remnants of the Empire.

"So this felt like the perfect time to bring him back.”

After hearing the news, fans expressed their excitement to see Admiral Ackbar back on our screens.

"Now that’s epic! Ackbar vs Thrawn is a tactical showdown we didn’t know we needed. This season’s gonna be wild!," one fan commented in a post on Twitter.

Another added: "I still can’t believe they killed Admiral Ackbar in The Last Jedi. It will be good to see him again."

There's not yet a release date confirmed for Ahsoka season two, but with filming now underway hopefully fans won't have long to wait!
