A gory Netflix horror series fans wish they could watch 'for the first time again' has recently been confirmed to return for a second season.

Netflix fans were delighted when the South Korean zombie apocalypse show was renewed for a second season.

And the best part? It's reportedly coming sooner than you might think.

The streamer announced a second season of All of Us Are Dead is on the way, much to the delight of fans across the globe.

Netflix Korea announced the news by posting a season two poster and a video to its Instagram page.

Captioning the video, the Netflix account penned: "Can we survive again? The second story of Hyosan High School friends' fierce zombie survival period begins."

Who will star in All of Us Are Dead season 2?

Plenty of season one characters did not make it out alive, may they rest in peace.

The characters likely to return for the second outing though are On-jo (Park Ji-hu), Su-hyeok (Park Solomon), Dae-su (Im Jae-hyuk), Ha-ri (Ha Seung-ri), Mi-jin (Lee Eun-saem), and Hyo-ryung (Kim Bo-yoon).

And, since Yoon Chan-young fronted the season 2 announcement video, his character Cheong-san is a dead cert to return, despite appearing to have made the ultimate sacrifice last season.

What will happen in All of Us Are Dead season 2?

At the end of season one, there was time jump of four months, showing the military had managed to get things back to a sort-of normality.

A second season is on the way.

The surviving characters reunited with Nam-ra, who after getting bitten by a zombie managed to retain some of her humanity, but still had a craving for human flesh.

It turns out she's made a few new friends, telling the others: "There are a few more like me."

She disappeared before she could explain what she meant.

Director Lee Jae-kyoo previously said in an interview with The Korea Herald: "Many directions, settings and scenes were intentionally produced to expand the story into an additional season, including the introduction of the new races of zombies.

"If the first season can be seen as having presented humanity's survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies."

Does All of Us Are Dead season 2 have a release date?

The next thing a lot of folks will be asking about is a release date, and the good news is that it is coming sooner than you might think.

Fans cannot wait for season two.

And while Netflix hasn't announced anything just yet, BH Entertainment - the agency who represents Park Ji-hu - hinted she was part of the show's '2024 line-up'.

So expect the next instalment to drop on Netflix later this year.
