A series from the same folks who created Netflix's 'best ever series' is just as good, according to some subscribers.

When filmmakers produce such a well-loved show, the pressure of doing even better with their next release mounts.

The creators of 2017's Dark hit a home run, with some viewers even calling it as the 'best series ever'.

Dark was the first German-speaking original series developed by Netflix, and fans are still talking about it to this day.

What followed the series from the creators was the 2022 release of 1899, which also gained glowing reviews from viewers.

Heck, it even dethroned The Crown as the streaming service's biggest show at the time.

1899 is from the creators of Dark.

The official synopsis for 1899 reads: "On their journey across the vast and treacherous Atlantic Ocean, the passengers of the Kerberos encounter the biggest mystery of their lives. Welcome to 1899, a deeply immersive new series from the creators of Dark."

While 1899 may have been out in the wild for a few years now, it continues to be talked about in 2024.

Taking to the Netflix Bangers Facebook Group, one user asked for people's opinions on the series, and it seems many thought it was just as good as Dark.

"This series is a masterpiece but you must have a good intellectual faculty to understand it," one person said.

"I loved it, couldn’t stop watching it," a second added.

While a third commented: "Mind bending when I realize what’s really happening! Takes attention, blink and you’ll wonder what’s going on."

1899 sits at an impressive 77 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes following critics' reviews.

The series was released in 2022.

Nick Schager, from The Daily Beast, penned: "Clarity is difficult to come by in the German duo’s latest eight-part effort, and that can sometimes be more vexing than exhilarating. Nonetheless, there remains much to savor about this period-piece whirligig."

While Forbes' Paul Tassi wrote: "It’s engaging, deeply strange and unsettling, and something I want to see more of now that this bizarre first season has wrapped. Hopefully it gets to have its full run."

1899 was set for a second season, however plans were shelved in early 2023.

The news was confirmed by series co-creator Baran bo Odar.

"With a heavy heart we have to tell you that ‘1899’ will not be renewed," Odar wrote on Instagram.

"We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a second and third season as we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned. That’s life."
