Viewers have been praising a new Netflix series which they've called a 'must watch'.

If you're a fan of crime and comedy then there is certainly no shortage of options to watch on Netflix.

But this particular series combines the two together with the trademark wit which comes with Guy Ritchie.

The series takes the familiar tropes of crime, in this case drugs, and moves them to an unexpected setting.

A very posh country estate, to be precise.

The show has been popular on Netflix.

If you hadn't guessed which series this is yet, it's The Gentlemen.

The show is a spin-off of the 2019 movie of the same name, and sees someone trying to build up a criminal empire in the idyllic surroundings of a country estate.

The Gentlemen has gone down well with audiences since its release on March 7, and has a solid rating of 8.3 on IMDb.

Meanwhile, on Rotten Tomatoes the critic score is a more modest 70 percent. However, the audience score is higher and comes in at a confident 86 percent.

But what is the series all about?

Needless to say, from this point onwards you can expect some spoilers. You have been warned.

The Gentlemen follows the exploits of newly-anointed Duke of Halstead Edward Horniman (played by Theo James).

Horniman unexpectedly inherits his father's 15,000 acre estate and his title.

Everything seems all fine and dandy, but when Horniman arrives to claim his inheritance he finds it in an unexpected state.

That's because he discovers that the property has been taken over by a weed growing operation.

The story goes on to show how the new Duke deals with the shady world he now find himself in as he defends his home and tries not to fall foul of the criminals he is confronted with.

One recounted the things they enjoyed about it, writing: "My daughter and I watched it… kind of binged to be honest. Loved it! So quirky. The humour, the characters, the location. Really great. Sorry it didn’t go on longer."

Another complimented the wit which is a signature of Guy Ritchie's films, commenting: "Fantastic. Always great dialogue in a Guy Ritchie."

Someone else had an amusing description of the series, posting: "I described this as 'Imagine someone running a weed operation under Downton Abbey, and one of the daughters has a serious cocaine and gambling problem'."

While another added: "Excellent series. Loved every episode."

The Gentlemen is available to stream on Netflix.
