The trailer doesn't seem to give much away

Adam Sandler hopes to continue his film hot streak into 2024 as streaming giant Netflix has released a teaser trailer for his upcoming sci-fi flick.

The trailer for Spaceman certainly doesn’t seem to give much away at all.

The short video shows Adam Sandler in an astronaut suit walking through shallow water in a forest.

It also has a voice over from the actor saying he 'fled his planet, through galaxies, planets and time'.

Check it out:

Thats it, that is all we get, for now.

According to Variety, the official synopsis for the movie reads: “Six months into a solitary research mission to the edge of the solar system, an astronaut, Jakub (Adam Sandler), realizes that the marriage he left behind might not be waiting for him when he returns to Earth.

"Desperate to fix things with his wife, Lenka (Carey Mulligan), he is helped by a mysterious creature from the beginning of time he finds hiding in the bowels of his ship. Hanuš (voiced by Paul Dano) works with Jakub to make sense of what went wrong before it is too late.”

It is said to be based the 2017 science fiction book written by Jaroslav Kalfař, Spaceman of Bohemia.

While it is not clear how closely the Netflix film will follow the novel, the book's description certainly seems like an intense space adventure.

Spaceman of Bohemia's synopsis reads: “Orphaned as a boy, raised in the Czech countryside by his doting grandparents, Jakub Procházka has risen from small-time scientist to become the country's first astronaut.

"When a dangerous solo mission to Venus offers him both the chance at heroism he's dreamt of, and a way to atone for his father's sins as a Communist informer, he ventures boldly into the vast unknown.

“But in so doing, he leaves behind his devoted wife, Lenka, whose love, he realizes too late, he has sacrificed on the altar of his ambitions."

I suppose we are getting to spoiler territory so you have officially been warned.

It continues: “Alone in Deep Space, Jakub discovers a possibly imaginary giant alien spider, who becomes his unlikely companion.

Spaceman is set to be released on Netflix on March 1, 2024.

"Over philosophical conversations about the nature of love, life and death, and the deliciousness of bacon, the pair form an intense and emotional bond. Will it be enough to see Jakub through a clash with secret Russian rivals and return him safely to Earth for a second chance with Lenka?

“Rich with warmth and suspense and surprise, Spaceman of Bohemia is an exuberant delight from start to finish. Very seldom has a novel this profound taken readers on a journey of such boundless entertainment and sheer fun."

Ben Ormand, Johan Renck and Barry Bernardi are executively producing the movie, while other producers include Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, Peter Kiernan, Michael Parets, Tim Headington, Lia Buman and Max Silva.
