In the news we have all been waiting for: Matthew McConaughey has shared his interest in returning for Magic Mike Three.

Since the 2012 original, and 2015 Magic Mike XXL, the film may have turned into a live show, but nothing has made up for seeing Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Adam Rodrigues, Joe Manganiello, and McConaughey on screen.

A cast for the finale of the franchise hasn't yet been confirmed. However, McConaughey has recently revealed that he would be happy to reprise his role in Magic Mike's Last Dance, which was first announced at the end of 2021, even reaching out to Tatum to 'call me, bro! I haven't heard from ya!'

McConaughey first took to the stage as one of Magic Mike's performers in the 2012 original, in the role of Dallas, a former stripper who owns Xquisite, and Mike's selfish and money-grabbing boss.

In the second film, Dallas ditches the group to start a new show in Macau, even taking one of the performers with him.

In an interview with Variety, McConaughey explained that he doesn't know about getting involved in the third instalment, and would 'have to read [the script] first'.

However, he resolved: 'It was a helluva lot of fun doing the first one'.

But fear not, because even if you don't see a cheeky bit of McConaughey, Tatum is definitely set to reprise his role as Mike Lane, a character loosely based on his own experiences having worked as a stripper in Florida.

In November last year, Tatum took to Twitter to announce the finale of the franchise, sharing an image of the front page of the script, written by Reid Carolin, and directed by Steven Soderbergh.

He captioned the post: 'Well world, looks like Mike Lane's tapping back in.'

Shooting is reportedly set to take place in both London and Italy and will begin next month.

The 2012 original took the box office by storm, grossing $167 million in cinemas, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Magic Mike XXL, which had a rough budget of $14,800,000, grossed another huge total of $117,813,057 worldwide.

A date has yet to be announced for the release of the third and final film of the franchise, however, Magic Mike's Last Dance will premiere exclusively on HBO Max.

And if you're worried about not seeing McConaughey in the latest Magic Mike, then you can still catch him in Sing 2.
