Legendary Matt Damon scene saved woman's life after waking her from coma

American comedy EuroTrip hit our screens way back in 2004

A legendary Matt Damon scene was responsible for saving a woman's life after she miraculously woke up from a coma.

EuroTrip is one of those American comedies that you will probably only appreciate if you watched it when it came out.

The film was released back in 2004 and is considered a 'cult-classic' amongst fans who will remember it as a classic teenage flick.

Check the trailer out below:

The film follows Ohio teen Scott Thomas (Scott Mechlowicz) quest across Europe to find his German pen pal, Mieke (Jessica Boehrs).

He is joined by his mate (Jacob Pitts) along with a pair of twins (Travis Wester, Michelle Trachtenberg) who meet up with him in Paris.

As expected, a lot of crazy s**t happens in-between and perhaps the most bizarre, yet brilliant, part of the movie is Matt Damon's on-stage performance of 'Scotty Doesn't Know'.

DreamWorks Pictures

The song, written by Lustra, was actually made for the film and it goes a little something like this: Scotty doesn't know that Fiona and me/ Do it in my van every Sunday / She tells him she's in church but she doesn't go / Still she's on her knees and Scotty doesn't know / Oh, Scotty doesn't know / So don't tell Scotty / Scotty doesn't know / Scotty doesn't know / (So don't tell Scotty)."

Although the lyrics sound pretty crude, they definitely ties in with the theme of the film.

Anyway, band member Nick Cloutman, recalled a brilliant story where the song pretty much woke someone up from a coma.

DreamWorks Pictures

He told IndieWire: "One of the more memorable stories we were approached with, there was this girl, I want to say in the Midwest or Indiana.

"It was her friend contacting us. She said her friend was in a car with some other people to get pizza and the car got t-boned.

"This girl was dragged out the car by paramedics and was put on a stretcher and ultimately went into a coma.

DreamWorks Pictures

"As she was slipping into this coma, her phone started ringing and she had the ‘Scotty Doesn’t Know’ ringtone.

"In her dazed state she started singing along to it.

"It’s one of those things where you don’t consider you’re going to be attached to something that has this positive meaning for people."

So, it turns out that there's a pretty insane reason why Damon was completely bald for the part, as he explained during a Reddit AMA in 2016: "I was in Prague shooting The Brothers Grimm, we were in rehearsals, and I had a wig in that movie, and so Alec and Dave and Jeff were making EuroTrip and they said 'Will you come play this, you know, Howard Rollins kind of insane, bad version of a suburban, you know, punk band guy?' And I said 'Yea, I'm in Prague'.

"So I showed up and I'm sitting there, and I'm like 'I'm wearing a wig, just shave my head, let’s just go for it', and we did it, and put a bunch of piercings all over. And 'Scotty Doesn't Know', the song, was actually written by one of my college roommates brothers, and in the band, one of my college roommates is actually in that back up band, Jason, is playing guitar in that group. So it was kind of a family affair."
