Jennifer Lawrence is testing her comedy chops in an upcoming flick - and the trailer has already broken a record.

In the film, Lawrence plays a 'desperate woman' called Maddie who gets embroiled in a family's plan to get their teenage son to come out of his shell... by having her sleep with him.

Check out the trailer:

Maddie is going along with the bizarre plan in a bid to secure a car, as her previous vehicle is seen being towed away at the start of the trailer.

The film may not have been released yet, but if the trailer's viewing figures are anything to go by, it's got a keen audience.

Within 24 hours of the trailer being released on March 9, it had already received over 50 million views - making it the most viewed trailer for an original comedy.

An initial attempt to bond sees the terrified teen pepper spraying her in the face, and a later effort to assert his masculinity sees him accidentally putting Maddie in the throat.

The trailer also shows Maddie attempting to show the 'unf**kable' Percy a good time by taking him skinny dipping.

The trailer has been well received online, with commenters sharing their excitement for the upcoming film.

One wrote: "I'm genuinely so surprised and happy by how unexpectedly good this looks."

Another commented: "This is the first trailer in a very long time to make me laugh out loud. And it got me multiple times. 100% seeing this!"

A fellow fan said: "I was completely expecting this to be s**t, but I'm genuinely surprised by how much I ended up laughing.

"The movie is fully riding on Jennifer's natural comedic talent and, based on this trailer alone, she. will. deliver. I just hope the script delivers too."

Lawrence will be appearing in the film alongside Andrew Barth Feldman as Percy and Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti as his parents, as well as Natalie Morales (Dead To Me), Hasan Minhaj, Kyle Mooney (Saturday Night Live) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear).

In a recent interview, Moss-Bachrach said: "I think Jennifer Lawrence is really goofy in this movie, in a way that she hasn’t been in the past.

"The movie reminds me of some ‘90s comedies I really used to like. I don’t want to misrepresent the movie, but there were elements which reminded me of the Farrelly brothers, or Something About Mary.

"There’s a decent amount of physical comedy, and Jennifer Lawrence is very committed to it. It was a very funny set.”
