Jared Leto has reacted to Morbius being slated in the best way possible.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you will almost certainly be aware of the cinematic turkey that is Morbius.

The Marvel superhero flick stars Leto as a terminally ill scientist who transforms into a bloodthirsty monster. Since it landed in cinemas on 1 April, the movie has been roundly panned by critics and fans alike, scoring just 17 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

And like anything these days, it has also been mercilessly ridiculed on social media, with a whole host of barbed memes doing the rounds.

But like the saying goes, if you can't beat them, joining them. So rather than get hung up on the criticism, Leto has done just that, posting a video to his Twitter of him getting in on the act.

In the clip, the actor can be seen reading through what appears to be a script, hiding the movie's title from the camera.

But when we finally get a look at it, it transpires that the top secret film is called Morbius 2: It's Morbin Time.

For those of you who actually don't have a clue what the hell Morbius is, I envy you.

The synopsis for the movie says: "One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius.

"Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble.

Leto decided to embrace the Morbius memes.

"While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed.

"Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?"

Ironically, with it being subject to social media ridicule, the film was actually re-released in select cinemas last week, Comicbook reported.

Reacting to the news that the film would be returning, one Twitter user wrote: “The first movie ever to bomb TWICE. #Morbius”

A second added: “This is so funny because a key part of the Morbius memes is not actually seeing the movie.”

Morbius has been panned by critics and fans.

"The funniest Morbius meme of all is that Sony is gonna lose a tonne of money because they convinced themselves that memes mean someone is gonna watch it," put a third.

Meanwhile, a fourth Twitter user speculated about the possibility of a sequel while referencing one of the most popular memes.

"Morbius 2 would be so incredible," they wrote. "Not because he would say, 'It's Morbin time'. But because Sony would think that him saying it would be so f**king hilarious, and that fact alone, makes it absolutely f**king hilarious. It would be like ultimate corporate lack of self awareness."
