James Cameron has revealed the next instalment to the Avatar franhcise will explore more of Pandora.

In the upcoming Avatar 3, audiences will see 'different cultures' from what the iconic director has already exposed them to.

Namely, a Na’vi fire tribe dubbed 'the Ash people'.

Cameron revealed they're going to show fans a far darker side to Pandora that we haven't seen just yet.

"[I want to explore] different cultures from those I have already shown," Cameron told 20 Minutes.

"The fire will be represented by the 'Ash people'. I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because, so far, I have only shown their good sides."

The director went on to spill more tea on the next film.

"In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples," he said.

"In Avatar 3 we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best.

"The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal."

Well, consider us ready for the main course with a napkin well and truly jammed into our collars.

But don't fret too much about another massive wait between movies because Cameron has already finished filming for the third film.

The movie requires significant CGI to get it to where it needs to be, however, so don't get too excited.

There's a whole fire tribe to watch out for.

If the franchise makes it all the way to movie number five, the Na’vi will come to Earth to see how awful we all really are.

Producer Jon Landau revealed the plot details to Gizmodo, and our appetites are well and truly whet.

"I wasn’t going to talk about it, but I’ve now subsequently heard that Jim has talked about it a little bit," he said.

"In [Avatar 5] there is a section of the story where we go to Earth. And we go to it to open people’s eyes, open Neytiri’s eyes, to what exists on Earth."

"Earth is not just represented by the [Resources Development Administration]," he said, referencing the franchise’s evil organisation that touched down on Pandora.

He continued: "Just like you’re defined by the choices you make in life, not all humans are bad. Not all Na’vi are good. And that’s the case here on Earth. And we want to expose Neytiri to that."

Avatar 3 is scheduled for release on 20 December 2024. Avatar: The Way of Water is out now.
