Sometimes the best things in life happen by accident. It sounds hard to believe, but it's true - just ask the producer of 2014 hit horror film, It Follows.

ICYMI, the spooky, supernatural movie follows carefree teenager Jay, who sleeps with her boyfriend for the first time, only to discover she is the latest recipient of a fatal curse that is passed on through sexual intercourse.

But while the psychological thriller was undoubtedly a hit, with an impressive 95 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, casting the film was near 'impossible'.

In fact, it was a chance meeting that led to the casting one of the film's most iconic and spine-chilling scenes, played by Mike Lanier.

The eerie entity chasing Jay takes many forms, from friends to complete strangers, and in one scene she's followed by an extremely tall man with no eyes, who suddenly enters her bedroom. Literal chills.

Many people who've seen the film assumed the man's height was the result of some impressive CGI, but apparently not.

One of the film's producers, Rebecca Green, recently took to Twitter to reveal the chance encounter that led to the casting of the creepy man.

The response came as another Twitter user shared an image from the scene, alongside a tweet: "What's one of the most startling, unsettling scenes in a movie? I'll start."

Quote tweeting the picture, Green wrote: "Casting this 'It' seemed impossible until one day when our location manager was telling a homeowner about our ridiculous casting search and the location rep told her that actually there were twins just down the street who were 7’7 and one wanted to be an actor. True story."

We told you, a happy accident, but a very impressive one at that, and lots of fans of the movie agreed.

Fans were impressed.

One fan replied: "Brilliant find!! Because it felt like my soul left my body during this sequence," while another added: "Damn. Couldn't have been more perfect. This scene was exactly when i knew this movie was gonna' scare its way into being one of my favourite films."

A third wrote: "Wow, and that's legit one of my favourite moments in a horror movie."

Lanier and his brother were in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s tallest twins, however Mike sadly passed away in 2018 at the age of 48.
