After completing an English Literature with Creative Writing degree at Surrey University, followed by a Masters in International Journalism at Salford University, he began working for the Warrington Guardian as a reporter. Throughout this though, he did freelance work about Film and TV for publications such as DiscussingFilm, looking for any excuse to get to rant about films. He has now finally got that wish.

A new slasher film shot from the perspective of a killer has horror fans excited to finally live out their weirdest fantasy of being a murderous movie villain.

In a unique twist, the film is shot entirely from the killer’s perspective, with the trailer shot predominantly either from his point-of-view or from directly over his shoulder as he carries out his gruesome murders.

Horror fans across social media are hyped for the film, which seems sure to be an unsettling experience.

The film, called In a Violent Nature, features a mask-wearing murderer making his way through a group of unwitting campers who took a pendant from his resting ground.

The slasher reportedly is a weird mix of both brutality and nature, with the scenes of his killing interspersed with long tracking shots of the villainous brute ambling his way through the forest.

Writer-director Chris Nash told Entertainment Weekly: “One of the biggest challenges was trying to figure out how much information is necessary to tell the story.

“Fortunately, the slasher genre has a lot of recognizable tropes that I could rely on filling in the blanks that we couldn’t touch on without straying too far from our stylistic conceit.

“I owe an unfathomable debt to all the Friday the 13ths, The Burning, My Bloody Valentine — really the entire slasher genre; they laid the foundation for our film.”

The slasher clearly pays homage to each of these in the trailer, and reviews from its premiere at Sundance say the film is an instant classic in the making.

The horror movie has a whopping 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with horror site Bloody Disgusting giving it a 3.5 star review (which, if you ask me, is a perfect review if it’s a horror film).

They said: “A fascinating arthouse horror experiment that plays more like a minimalist slice-of-life feature with a grim, gory twist.”

One horror fan on X saw a lot of similarities with another horror classic, saying: “It looks like Jason Voorhees has merged into this movie cause he sure does look really similar and his movements are awfully alike.

Much of the film is shot from over the killer's shoulder.

"All that’s missing from this killer is the hockey mask. Shudder has some good movies lined up this year, so I can’t wait to see this one for sure!"

A commenter under the trailer on Youtube said: “Between Stop Motion, Midnight with the Devil and now this Shudder is leading the way in horror”.

Another poster on X said: “May can’t come by any sooner!”

Streaming platform Shudder - which specialises in horror, and thriller films predominantly - is behind the new film, which audiences can subscribe to through Amazon Prime for $6.99 a month.

The film releases on Shudder on May 31.
