Henry Cavill has shut down rumours that he’ll be appearing in House of the Dragon.

After the final episode of the incredible HBO show was released, fans took to social media to suggest the British actor would be a perfect inclusion in the next season.

Some said he should play Aegon Targaryen if the show wanted to go back a few generations to show how the dragon family and the Iron Throne was born.

If he fashioned his blonde wig from his hit TV show The Witcher, we could definitely see Cavill seamlessly blending in with the entire cast of the HBO series.

However, don't get your hopes up.

During an interview with Josh Horowitz, the 39-year-old actor cleared the air about those casting rumours while promoting his latest flick Enola Holmes 2.

He said: "I think it would be nice to be in Westeros, I really do. But I don't think there's a place for me there."

He continued: "To be fair, when I was watching House of the Dragon, I was like 'I feel like a lot of these guys could make really good Witchers."

However, we don't blame the actor for quashing our House of the Dragon fantasy, as we expect the actor is spread pretty thin at the moment while he reprises his role of Superman in the DC Universe.

After a credit scene in Black Adam teased Cavill’s return to the Man of Steel, the actor took to Instagram in late October to confirm the exciting news.

The actor penned to his 22 million followers: “A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded.”

Cavill also added a video message to his post: “I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch Black Adam.

“But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman.”

The actor continued to thank his fans for their ongoing support while noting that his appearance in Black Adam marked the new era of Cavill’s Superman.

Cavill first graced the screen as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel which went on to earn USD $668 million (AUD $1.04b or £590m) at the box office.

He has played the Son of Krypton a handful of times since then, appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Cavill also recently revealed he will be leaving The Witcher, with Liam Hemsworth set to take over the role of Geralt of Rivia.
