Gossip Girl hints at original cast reboot with cryptic social media post

You might want to sit down for this one, Upper East Siders.

Gossip Girl has been teasing a reboot with the original cast and the internet is going wild.

No, this is not a drill, people.

Gossip Girl's social media accounts posted a promotional image with the original 2007 cast and the caption: “Welcome back, Upper East Siders.

"After a long time away, I see it didn’t take much time for you to dirty up the clean slates I gave you. #GossipGirl.”

And, of course, this had fans absolutely drooling over the possibility of a revival.

One user wrote: “Whatever this is, it’s going to put me in an early grave.”

Another said: “Mothers and fathers who birthed and raised me THANK YEW.”

A third shared: “ARE YOU COMING BACK OMG.”

While another commented: “Oh y’all my senses tingling.”

The original show concluded in 2012 after six seasons, and while the sequel series - also titled Gossip Girl - was released in 2021 on HBO Max, it was canceled in February this year.

The series followed an entirely new cast of New York’s most elite, who yes, would also have their bagel on the steps of the Met, and was narrated by Kristen Bell.

However, the show was poorly received, ultimately leading to its demise.

So again, fans are wagging their tails, wondering what this upcoming project could be.

The teaser included the six original cast mates: Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, Taylor Momsen, Chase Crawford and Ed Westwick.

And while Michelle Trachtenberg, a.k.a Georgina Sparks, was the only one to appear in the reboot, that doesn’t mean she’s the only OG cast mate to return to the Upper East Side.

In a 2017 interview with Variety, Lively spoke about reprising the role of Manhattan’s it girl Serena van der Woodsen.

“It sort of all depends. Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it’s hard work and I’ve got my babies, and I don’t want to be away from them that much. But I’ve just learned in life you never say never,” she told the outlet.

“I’m looking to do something that I haven’t done yet, not something that I did. But would I do that? Who knows — if it was good, if it made sense. We had so much fun shooting and living and working in New York City.”

We smell a reunion brewing.

Until then…xoxo.
