The threequel has done what was once thought impossible.

Creed III has offically been certified as 'fresh' after it copped an almost perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

While threequels don't typically hit the mark - don’t even mention Godfather 3 or Shrek The Third - the movie sports drama has achieved the unimaginable, scoring rave reviews from audience and critics upon its release.

Kate Walsh for Los Angeles Times said the flick manages to hold up to its processors and praises Michael B. Jordan, who directs and stars in it.

She said: “Taking over a behind-the-scenes role is a part of the Rocky legacy, and Jordan takes the reins with ease, championing Majors and heralding an exciting new chapter of his career, beyond Creed.”

Karen M. Peterson writer for Citizen Dame marvels at how, after the many spin-offs and reimaginings of Rocky, the film somehow still feels ‘fresh’.

She added: “Not just the bloodied and bruised result, but everything about the way the skin buckles and the sweat beads up. There are so many boxing movies in the world and yet this never feels tired or boring.”

While Wall Street Journal journalist Kyle Smith said that although a third movie wasn’t necessary, Jordan has struck gold.

He wrote: “We probably didn’t need a third Creed film, but in his directorial debut, the franchise’s star Michael B. Jordan proves more than capable of hitting the right beats and telling a straightforward story without getting distracted by cinematic gimmicks.”

Creed III marks Jordan’s directorial debut.

UPI reported that while the 36-year-old promoted the film during a press conference, he admitted the project was his ‘hardest’ yet.

"It's the hardest thing I've had to do so far," Jordan said at a press conference in Los Angeles, as per the outlet.

"But at the same time, I felt the most alive doing it, so it was rewarding."

The actor also revealed that while shooting intense boxing sequences, he got to bring his fantasy to life, as he’s envisioned the film for quite some time.

"There are some scenes and shots in the movie that I've dreamed about," Jordan said.

"I've imagined, daydreamed in my head, and when you see it on screen, the type of gratification you get out of that is crazy."

While the Black Panther star hasn’t announced any more plans to direct in the future, we feel this won’t be the last time he’ll be calling the shots from behind the camera.
