McDonalds is one of the biggest brands on the planet and people are convinced they know more than they are letting on after choosing to set up in a rather odd location.

Regardless of where you are reading this, there is probably a McDonalds restaurant no more than 15 minutes away from you.

As one of the behemoths of the fast-food industry the company tends to set themselves up in very good locations.

However, this one store in 8075 Avenue Marcel-Villeneuve in Saint-François, Laval, Quebec caused a stir when it opened last year.

It pretty much seemed out in the middle of nowhere and didn’t even have electricity, running off a generator when it opened, according to a viral TikTok.

"Officially open for business. Our staff awaits you at our new restaurant at 8075 Marcel-Villeneuve, Laval," the restaurant wrote on Facebook.

McDonalds' Jéremy Lévy said: "I am delighted to be involved with the community of Saint-François on the occasion of this opening. Growing up with a father who is also a McDonald's franchisee, I have had the opportunity to see him actively involved in the communities in which he operates his restaurants. Today, I am very excited to follow in his footsteps and get involved in the same way."

A week after opening the new restaurant went viral thank to a TikTok video uploaded by @thumbs.up.canuck.

The TikToker noticed the new 'Maccies' had opened up near him, but instead of rushing to the new store for a burger and some fries, he was left utterly confused.

Perhaps the man's biggest confusion came from where the McDonald's is situated, and the fact it doesn't appear to have any electricity.

While filming the new restaurant from his car, he explained: "It’s literally in the middle of farm field. It’s surrounded by farm, and there’s not even electricity yet. They’re running the damn place on a generator! That’s crazy!"

The video has been viewed over 37,000 times on TikTok with a lot of conspiracy theories coming out.

People have even suggested that McDonald’s Canada Corporate offices must know something that everyone else does not.

"Then you know what's coming they wouldn't put it there for nothing," one user claimed.

A second added: "In two years it will be surrounded by houses strategically planned."

While a third remarked: "All the surrounding farms are about to be purchased and sold to developers."

Other commenters allege that the area is set to be developed soon, with McDonald's becoming the first company to become new inhabitants.
