The McRib is back at long last, but it’s got everyone excited for a different reason.
McDonald’s is on a roll with bringing back past fan favorites, like its iconic Snack Wrap.
Speaking of the Snack Wrap, it’s actually been crowned McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski’s favorite menu item of all time, so that’s something.
But the McRib is getting praise for a strange occurrence that seems to be linked to every time it is brought back to the menu.

Having returned to selected restaurants across the US on November 11 for a limited run, people have been taking to social media to explain why this is a good thing for the economy right now.
I know, a McRib doesn’t exactly seem like the object to truly stable the market but hear me out.
According to crypto currency traders, something happens every time the McRib is brought out.
The boneless pork sandwich was launched in 1981, but it didn’t seem to be a hit with consumers, and so it was pulled just four years later.
But people flock to stores when it’s back, which makes me wonder if it should have been pulled in the first place.
Anyway, back to why it means something to the crypto community.
On November 10, McDonald’s senior marketing director Guillaume Huin took to his X profile to announce its return.
He said it’s McDonald’s ‘most-mentioned limited-time product online’ that has crypto traders excited.
Huin wrote: “The legendary McRib returns 11/11 at most McDonald's in the US. It is our most-mentioned limited-time product online, higher than other evergreen items, particularly on X.
“Funnily enough and entirely independent of McDonald's involvement, the McRib has recently found new meaning on internet within the trading and crypto community, as some claim Bitcoin and S&P500 tend to perform well after the McRib makes a comeback, particularly in 2017, 2020, 2021.”
The marketing director added: “Coincidentally, when the McRib returned to stores in December 2024, Bitcoin hit a new all-time high. Welcome back, Legend!”
While there’s no proven link between the pork sandwich and a cryptocurrency boom, you’ve got to admit, the pattern is a little suspicious.
Anyway, fans are pretty happy to see it back, with one user writing online: “Now that’s the kind of analysis I like to see. All hail the McRib.”
Someone else said: “This on top of everything else today. This is excellence. I will have one tomorrow to celebrate.”
Another commented: “There's no way I'm missing one this year.”
