Usher marries his long-term girlfriend in Las Vegas over Super Bowl weekend

Usher has married his girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea after a more than memorable Super Bowl half time performance.

Usher had more than a few things to celebrate following an unforgettable Super Bowl halftime show with his former girlfriend.

Now, I say Usher’s former girlfriend because, according to reports, the R&B superstar and Jennifer Goicoechea tied the knot following the show.

Usher's performance during yesterday's Super Bowl went down an absolute treat for fans and the millions who tuned in to watch, and even though the star didn't actually get paid for his show, he clearly had a blast too.

And it wasn't just the show that was a memorable event for him last week, as according to a report by PEOPLE magazine, Usher and Jennifer obtained their marriage license in Clark County, Nevada on Feb. 8.

A source who spoke to the Daily Mail stated that the singer chose to turn his long-term girlfriend into his wife after advice from his spiritual advisor Amba Kahly Su.

The pair celebrated their new marriage with an after party following the Super Bowl with friends and family in a rather sweet affair.

“Congrats to the newlyweds in the building,” producer Bryan Michael Cox said as the pair made their first appearance as a married couple at the USHER x Rémy Martin Post-Performance Dinner Party held at Cathédrale Las Vegas.

The pair couldn’t look happier as they both wore white- Usher in a white floor-length coat adorned with jewels and black letters emblazoned on the back and Goicoechea wore an off-the-shoulder pantsuit, white gloves and black-and-white sunglasses.

Usher was clearly smitten by the union as he gave a brief speech during the party, according to a Page Six report.

“It’s been an amazing night, man. I’m really happy,” he told his guests. “It’s just the beginning. It’s a victory lap for 100 sold-out shows in Las Vegas. And now we’re gonna take it on tour!”

The exclusive guest list included Usher’s mother, Jonetta Patton, and brother, J. Lack, along with celebrities like Scooter Braun, Queen Latifah, Fabolous, Jermaine Dupri, Janelle Monáe, Corey Gamble, L.A. Reid and Tim Cook, according to the publication.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Usher also explained his reasoning behind getting married.

“Listen, when you find someone that you know is a great partner, of course it is an honor and a pleasure to be able to share life with someone who wants to share it with you and loves you, who you are,” he said.

“We've obviously made a commitment to life for life together because of our children. It wouldn't be odd for us to get married. We already did here.

“And we're going to be in each other's lives until we die, obviously, because we have something to share. That's beautiful. Our children. But not because of that. I really do feel like I have an amazing partner that I respect."

Usher and Goicoechea have reportedly been an item since 2018 and share two children together, daughter Sovereign Bo, three, and son Sire Castrello, two.

UNILAD has contacted Usher's representatives for comment.
