Tom Holland stunned and divided fans online as he reflected on the possibility of playing Spider-Man in his 30s in a resurfaced video.
For many, Tom Holland has solidified himself as the perfect Spider-Man, and to be fair, he has won the hearts over of millions, even the Tobey Maguire stans.
However, following Marvel announcing that Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will be the next film under Holland’s tenure, the 28 year-old isn’t yet done with the role.

However, speaking to GQ the British actor has previously explained that ‘if he is still playing Spider-Man when he is 30, [he] has done something wrong’.
Kind of a wild statement considering how popular the character is, how successful all of his movies have been, and, well... who willingly walks away from being Spider-Man?

A video of Holland explaining himself during the press tour for Spider-Man: No Way Home, has resurfaced on Reddit and certainly got some fans talking.

Some fans insisted they wanted Holland to stay in the role as long as possible.
One fan wrote: “I understand for Tom as an actor but man I’d still like to see a prime 30 year old Spider-Man.”
A second commented: “I thought the promise of bringing on yet another teenage Spider-Man was that we would see him grow into the mid 20s and 30s character who gets married.
“There are SO MANY storylines that they haven't even come close to touching yet.”

And a third simply added: “But… I like older Spider-Man…”
However, other fans understood what the actor said and his desire to potentially branch out into other roles.
Another Reddit user commented: “You can tell he is terrified of being known as only Spider Man for the rest of his career. His agent will not let him go.”
With another agreeing and saying: “Holland is concerned about getting pigeonholed, as might easily happen. It happened to Mark Hamill, it's happened to lots of actors that starred in big blockbusters.”
However, Holland clarified in the 2021 video, as well as other interviews, what he meant when he initially said he had ‘done something wrong’ if he was still playing the role.

He explained: “I know Amy Pascal (executive producer of the Spider-Man films) and the studio are keen to figure out what the next chapter of Spider-Man looks like.
“If that happens to be with me that is very exciting, but if it is time for me to walk away, I’ll do so proudly.
“What I was referring to in that interview where I said if I’m playing Spider-Man when I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong, it is because I would be taking up an opportunity for someone to come in and change what being Spiderman means.
“Spiderman could be more diverse, it could be a female character it could be anything, so that is what I was saying.”

So looks like Holland is well up for playing the web-head for a few years more even if he is open to stepping to the side to give someone else a go.
