Elon Musk’s ex-wife Talulah Riley says he is the ‘perfect ex-husband’ and that she has ‘utmost love for him’.
And the actor and author is the ideal person to reveal what sort of ex-husband the Tesla boss is, as the pair have actually been married and divorced twice.
The couple first tied the knot in 2010 before divorcing two years later, but then in 2013 they got hitched again, finally splitting for good in 2016.
Speaking about the unusual relationship breaks and reunions, Riley, 36, told the Independent: “Obviously I understand it looks strange. But that logic made sense at the time.”

She went on: “I suppose the reason to get remarried was just because it felt silly to be together unmarried after having been married.
"You know, it’s like a habit. We were saying ‘this is my husband.’ ‘This is my wife.’ ‘Oh, wait, no, we’re not that anymore. We better be that again.’
“You know, it felt silly to go back to ‘this is my boyfriend’ when we’ve been married. So, we just got married again.”

Despite their splits, in the acknowledgements for her book The Quickening Riley thanks Musk for being ‘the perfect ex-husband’.
She added: “He’s a great friend. He looks out for me. We are in a happy place now, where we’re good to each other, which is really nice. I have here utmost love for him.”
Riley, who is currently dating Love Actually star Thomas Brodie-Sangster, has previously said that she considers Musk ‘family’.
During an interview with The Sunday Times she said: “I love Elon fiercely and always will, not necessarily in an intense, romantic way but in a broad ‘he’s my family’ way.”

Speaking after his and Riley’s divorce was finalised, Musk – who had previously been married to Justine Musk from 2000 to 2008 – appeared to have doubts about marrying again.
He said: “I think it would be extremely unwise for me to jump into a third marriage without spending considerable time figuring out if the third one will work.
"It was never my intention to have a short marriage. Essentially I’d want to be super sure before getting married again, but I certainly would love to be in a relationship. For sure.”

After the pair split, Musk began a relationship with musician Grimes – real name Claire Boucher – with whom he had two children. The pair have since said to have gone their separate ways.
