Lizzo said she’d tried ‘everything’ to lose weight, and now, she’s telling the ‘truth’ about the part Ozempic has played in her dramatic lifestyle overhaul.
37-year-old Lizzo, who intentionally began her ‘weight release’ odyssey in 2023, announced earlier this year that she’d seen a desired number on the scales for the first time since 2014.
"Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!" she penned, reflecting on reaching her ‘goal weight’.

Last month, the ‘Truth Hurts’ singer admitted on the Just Trish podcast that she’d briefly used Ozempic in the hopes of dropping a few more lbs.
Ozempic, an FDA-approved prescription medication, is designed for people with type 2 diabetes. Although it's not approved for weight loss in the US, celebrities like Kathy Bates and James Corden have said they’ve used it for this purpose in the past.
Speaking about using the injectable in June, Lizzo confessed: “I've tried everything.
“It’s just the science, for me, calories in vs. calories out. Ozempic works because you eat less food. It makes you feel full. So, if you can just do that on your own and get mind-over-matter, it’s the same.”

Now, Lizzo is setting the record straight on whether or not she has continued to use Ozempic for weight loss.
On Thursday (July 3), the flautist shared two side-by-side images of herself with her 11.7 million Instagram followers.
“The photo on the left is my first time getting lymphatic massage from Flavia, and the right is the most recent!,” she explained, tagging Brazilian beautician Flávia Lanini in the post.

The ‘Juice’ hitmaker, who included a mirror selfie with Lanini and another picture of herself in the carousel, used the caption to tell the ‘truth’ about her dramatic body recomposition.
“In light of all these magazines and blogs wanting me to be on Ozempic soooo bad— here’s the truth!
“I work my a** off, training 3x a week, daily sauna & cardio, adding animal protein back into my diet, hiring a chef who helps me meal prep and keeps track of what I put into my body in a calorie deficit,” she typed.
Lizzo claimed she’s cut out sugary drinks from Starbucks, ‘full-fat sodas and potato chips’ in her desire to lose weight.
She also ‘quit drinking’ alcohol for ‘the longest’, but says she is now enjoying a tipple, believing she’s ‘earned it’.

As well as curbing carbs and sugar, the Michigan-born star said she’s taken up playing pickleball. Her exercise routine also consists of hiking, walking on the beach, and dancing.
Lizzo claimed to ‘drink water’ and that she tends to ‘detox’ her body once per month; however, she didn’t go into detail about what this latter process entails.
“I also get holistic body work done, wood therapy, and lymphatic massage,” the star added.
“I’m so happy and proud of what I’ve done and no one can take that away from me.”

The icon, who recently became a Women’s Health covergirl, has been supported in the comments by fans and famous faces alike.
“What hard work looks like,” said popular content creator Avery Woods. “You should be so proud of yourself. Beautiful then beautiful now.”
“You are killing it!! I just saw her todaaaaay,” said singer-songwriter Victoria Monet.

Meanwhile, a fan typed: “It shouldn’t matter if you did use Ozempic or any other weight loss drug. It’s not cheating any more than hiring a personal trainer and a chef is. Some people need a bit of extra help, and that’s ok.”
Another commented: “Your weight loss NEVER gave Ozempic tho! We ALLLL know how the Ozempic weight loss looks! I’m proud of you Lizzy! You did that!”
During the interview on the Just Trish podcast, Lizzo gave more insight into how her diet has changed over the past few years.
She ‘controversially’ claimed that giving up her vegan diet has helped her successfully continue her ‘weight release’ journey.

“When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats. I was eating a lot of bread. I was eating a lot of rice,” she told Trisha Paytas.
"I had to eat a lot of it to stay full, but really I was consuming like 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day.”
Lizzo - who was vegan between 2020 and 2023 - claimed that when she ‘actually ate whole foods’ like beef, chicken and fish, she realised her vegan diet wasn’t ‘actually filling [her] up’.
Previously, Lizzo has said that she still believes veganism is the ‘healthiest diet to have’ and that she one day aspires to ‘be a raw alkaline vegan’, as per E! News.

“Until then, this is the diet that's helped me reach my goals and help me feel good in my body.”
