Ryan Seacrest says Andy Cohen ignored him during NYE broadcast

The ABC host said he tried to wave at Cohen in Times Square

ABC host Ryan Seacrest has claimed Andy Cohen ignored him while presenting CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live show alongside Anderson Cooper.

Cooper and Cohen returned to our screens to present CNN's coverage of the countdown to 2023 from Times Square in New York, while Seacrest once again hosted ABC's New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

The respective shows saw the hosts chat to guests and keep viewers entertained with various games and conversations throughout the evening, and after his appearance Seacrest reflected on the night during an episode of Live With Ryan and Kelly.

Speaking to co-host Kelly Ripa, Seacrest explained: “It was funny because my big stage was right in front of Anderson [Cooper] and Andy. When I was not working, I was trying to get their attention.”

Seacrest waved to his fellow television presenters as they hosted their show, recalling: "I thought maybe I was in the shot. I just wanted to wave and say hi. They have a great show."

However, Seacrest claimed his efforts to get their attention only half worked, as he only managed to get a response from Cooper.

"Anderson, the best. He turns around and he says, ‘Have a good show'," Seacrest said, adding: "Very nice. Andy did not turn around.”

Ripa contradicted Seacrest's claims, alleging that Cohen did actually try to say hello to Seacrest during the evening.

“That’s not true. He said he was trying to get your attention,” she said.

Seacrest's comments come after Cohen gave a dig to Seacrest's New Year's Eve show while on air in 2021, making reference to 'Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers that are performing behind us'.

"I mean, with all due [respect], if you’ve been watching ABC tonight, you’ve seen nothing. I’m sorry," he said.

Following the broadcast, Cohen acknowledged the comments were a mistake and claimed he made them while drunk.

“The only thing that I regret saying, the only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast and I really like Ryan Seacrest and he’s a great guy,” Cohen said on his SiriusXM radio show. “And I really regret saying that, and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it.”

After Cohen's drunken ramblings on the 2021 show, CNN announced it would be scaling back drinking on its New Year’s Eve show in 2022. As a result, Cohen and Cooper were left taking shots of mystery substances including pickle juice and apple cider vinegar.

UNILAD has attempted to contact representatives for Cohen for comment.
