Olly Alexander is stopping wearing Savage X Fenty after Rihanna signs up Johnny Depp for show

Years and Years singer Olly Alexander has spoken out after Rihanna announced Johnny Depp will feature in her next Savage x Fenty show.

Olly Alexander has spoken out after Rihanna announced Johnny Depp will feature in her next Savage x Fenty show.

Last week, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was confirmed as being featured in a segment of Rihanna's upcoming Savage X Fenty Show Vol.4 on Amazon Prime Video.

However, Rihanna has faced extreme backlash over the move as a result of the sexual abuse allegations which plagued Depp and saw him embroiled in an intense defamation trial with his ex-partner and fellow actor Amber Heard.

Alexander - who also starred in Russell T Davies' Channel 4 drama It's A Sin - has since taken to social media to speak out against Rihanna's inclusion of Depp in the upcoming show.

On 3 November, when Depp's appearance was first publicly announced, the musician took to Twitter to re-share the news, accompanied by a sad face.

Underneath the re-tweet, a fan responded: "But, 'Savage X Fenty' is you baby....... you wear it so well."

The Years and Years singer replied: "Thank you but after this news, I won't be wearing it anymore."

Despite Depp having won the defamation trial against Amber Heard, many people have continued to point out the lawsuit simply questioned whether or not the Aquaman actor defamed Depp in her 2018 Washington Post op-ed, opposed to proving whether or not her allegations she was sexually assaulted and abused by the Edward Scissorhands actor were true.

As a result of the defamation trial, Heard was ordered to pay Depp a total of $15 million in damages. The jury awarded Heard a total of $2 million in damages.

Since the trial concluded, Depp has gone on to appear at the VMAs, whereas Heard could reportedly be replaced in Aquaman 2 by Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke.

However, a whole host of celebrities were caught quietly rolling back their support for Depp by retracting their likes on his victory post on social media.

Depp may have received an unanimous vote in favour of his defamation case from the jurors, but members of the public - as well as the world of celebrities - are still very much divided when it comes to his and Heard's relationship.

And their relationship is set to come under the microscope yet again as a result of the six-week long defamation trial being turned into a movie called Hot Take: The Depp/ Heard Trial.

Savage X Fenty Show Vol.4 is currently set for release on Amazon Prime Video on 9 November.
