Timothée Chalamet turned up at the Actors Awards red carpet on Sunday night with the most important woman in his life, his mom. Meanwhile, his partner Kylie Jenner decided to give the star-studded show a miss.
The 30-year-old Dune actor was up for yet another Best Actor gong last night, after a slew of nominations this awards season for his role in table tennis thriller Marty Supreme.
Though Jenner is often spotted cheering him on at these events, Chalamet looked no less cheerful as he walked with up the red carpet with mom Nicole Fender at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.
Yet in between flashing grins for the waiting banks of photographers, a lip reader noticed a small terse exchange between Chalamet and his mom that 'revealed' some tension before the awards show began.

As the Call Me By Your Name star posed for the cameras wearing a white shirt and suit jacket and all black on his bottom half, alongside his mother in a pink spaghetti-strap dress, a camera caught a small exchange with his mom.
"Mind my shoes, these are rented," are supposedly the words that the actor said quietly to Fender, lip reader Nicola Hickling told the Mirror US. Something his media-trained girlfriend would not have to be reminded of.
In response, his mom laughed at her son's preciousness and moved slightly to the side.
That is not to say that Chalamet did not show clear appreciation for her joining him for the big occasion, later being spotted handing his mom a red rose in a heartwarming display.

Fender's last red carpet appearance had been in December, when she attended the Marty Supreme premier in New York, alongside 28-year-old Jenner.
The influencer and businesswoman has often joined Chalamet at the seemingly neverending string of awards shows he has attended this season, including the Critics' Choice and Golden Globe awards where he took home top prizes.
After winning the Best Actor prize at the Critics' Choice awards ceremony, he made sure to thank 'my partner of three years,' adding sweetly: “I love you.
“I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Jenner also joined him at last month's controversy-ridden BAFTAs, February 22, where she wore an altered 1999 Mugler gown alongside her boyfriend's choice of a classic suit.
However, just like at the BAFTAs, on Sunday night, Chalamet sadly went home empty handed after his role in the table tennis thriller failed to wow the Actors Awards judges.
