Taylor Swift has opened up about one the songs on her new album, which has been labelled a potential 'diss track'.

The singer's new album has been at the centre of controversy, with fans speculating about the subject of one of the songs.

Swift has something of a reputation for writing about people from her past in her music, including her ex-boyfriends.

In this case, some fans think that the lyrics from the song My Boy Breaks All His Favorite Toys could be a veiled reference to the singer's ex, Matty Healy.

The pair are rumoured to have previously been in a relationship together, and many fans think the song's lyrics are a reference to this.

The song features on Swift's new album The Tortured Poets Department, with the lyrics going: "My boy only breaks his favorite toys, toys, oh / I’m queen of sand castles he destroys, oh, oh / ‘Cause it fit too right, puzzle pieces in the dead of night / I should’ve known it was a matter of time, oh, oh."

Swift opened up about her thinking behind the song in an interview with Amazon Music.

She said: "Being somebody’s favorite toy until they break you and then don’t want to play with you anymore.

"Which is how a lot of us are in relationships where we are so valued by a person in the beginning, and then all of the sudden, they break us or they devalue us in their mind.

"We’re still clinging on to 'No no, no. You should’ve seen them the first time they saw me. They’ll come back to that. They’ll get back to that.'"

Matt responded earlier this week when a member of the paparazzi asked him what he thought about the song.

"My diss track? Oh!" he said. Healy then laughed and replied: "I haven't really listened to that much of it, but I'm sure it's good."

And it could be that Matty Healy is not the only person that Swift has written about in her new album.

Many fans have also speculated that one track on the singer's songs is in fact taking aim at Kim Kardashian.

Swift and Kardashian have made no secret of their feud over the years, and the title of Swift's new song reveals what could be a not particularly subtle indication at who she is talking about.

That's because the song is called thanK you aIMee.

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed that the capitalised letters in the song spell out 'KIM'.

It doesn't stop there either, with the opening lines of the song referring to a 'bronze spray-tanned statue' in what could be a jab at Kim Kardashian.
