Journalist Ronan Farrow couldn't resist poking fun at the identity of his father after years of speculation that he could be the son of Frank Sinatra.

As one of the most iconic singers of the 20th century, Sinatra would be a pretty impressive person to namedrop just as a friend, let alone your actual dad.

The 'My Way' singer passed away in 1998 at the grand old age of 82, but following his death he became the subject of an ambiguous comment made by Ronan's mom, Mia Farrow.

Mia and Sinatra were married from 1966 to 1968, before she began her 12-year long relationship with Woody Allen in 1980. During her relationship with Allen, Mia got pregnant and gave birth to Ronan in 1987, indicating Allen is Ronan's father.

However, in 2013 Mia found herself in the midst of the rumor mill when she was asked whether Sinatra was the real father of her son.

In response to the question, Mia said: “Possibly”.

Ronan appeared to make light of the comment afterwards as he took to X to write, 'Listen, we're all *possibly* Frank Sinatra's son', but he harked back to the rumor when he appeared on Ru Paul's Drag Race this weekend.

Ronan appeared as a guest judge for the semi-finals of the reality show, where he joked with the host about the high stakes.

"Ru, it is the semifinals!" Ronan said. "I haven't been this nervous since I took a paternity test."

Viewers absolutely loved Ronan's reference to the rumors about his dad, with one claiming they had 'audibly screamed' when he made the joke.

"No one has more fun with this joke than him!," another fan commented, as a third added: "I think this was THE best joke in the whole episode."

Though Ronan seems happy to join in the joke, it's worth noting that speculation about who his father is has been shut down by people with knowledge of the situation in the past.

In 2021, Sinatra’s friend and biographer Tony Oppedisano said he wanted to 'put to rest' the rumors following years of 'gossip'.

Oppedisano claimed that in the period Ronan would have been conceived, Sinatra was at home with his wife Barbara recovering from emergency diverticulitis surgery. He also noted that during the same period, Mia was shooting a movie called September which Allen was directing on location at their home in Connecticut.

Furthermore, Allen is listed as Ronan's father on his birth certificate.
