After making a name for herself as an actor and model, Pamela Anderson decided to make a change in her life and quit wearing makeup.
The move prompted mixed responses, with many of her fans praising the choice while some were left shocked at her decision to forego makeup even while attending star-studded events, but the Baywatch star has stood firm in her decision.
Anderson, who's now 58 years old, has spoken openly about giving up makeup and embracing her looks as she continues to age, having told The New York Times last year: “The things that are happening to my face — a little elasticity is leaving — I’m finding humor in that. I feel sexier now that I have some secrets and some mystery."

However, while Anderson is satisfied with her decision, she admitted during an appearance on the How To Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast that she had to get deal with people being 'horrified'.

The actor described her changing approach to looks as a 'rebel move', saying: "What is beauty? Beauty's subjective, and we don't have to look like the covers of magazines."
Anderson is absolutely right in her opinion, but that didn't stop a negative reaction from people who felt otherwise.

She continued: "We don't have to do the industry standard, which everybody was so horrified when I decided I didn't need a glam team for certain events."
In spite of the backlash, Anderson ignored the critics and noted that she would rather spend her time doing more cultural things, for example by looking at architecture when she was spending time in Paris.
"I thought, who's looking at me? [...] That's what started at Paris Fashion Week and it just sent everybody scrambling around me, thinking 'no this is not what people do', and I said well 'that gives me more reason to do it'," Anderson said.
The actor made clear that she's not against makeup in itself, saying she 'loves getting dressed up and glammed up', but she felt she had 'nothing to lose' and wanted to use her position in the celebrity world to 'open up conversations' about real beauty, beyond the type seen on social media.

"I really want to know who I am, and I'm just discovering that now," she said. "It's not that I'm letting myself go [...] I'm just peeling it back to see who I am. It's a starting position."
