Miley Cyrus has claimed she made a drastic change to her image in a bid to keep a 'happy home' while with Liam Hemsworth.
The pair were on-and-off dating for much of the 2010s before settling down together and tying the knot in December 2018, and then ultimately announcing their split the following August and divorce in January 2020.
However, unsurprisingly, their time together the 32-year-old 'Flowers' singer drew much of her inspiration for her songs from their relationship, she explained while appearing as a guest on the Every Single Album podcast.

Speaking about The Last Song, the film which starred a 17-year-old Cyrus and 19-year-old Hemsworth, she said: "That’s where I met Liam, who I would go on to marry and write a ton of, or most of, my songs about."

She also jokingly said 'talk about catching strays', referencing how Hemsworth had unintentionally received a slating from her, while mentioning that her songs were influenced by positive and negative aspects of their time together.
She then went on to explain how she made drastic changes to her appearance and public image claiming she did so to keep Hemsworth happy, detailing how their split in 2013 was due her 'Bangerz' album - which included the controversial 'Wrecking Ball' hit.

In the music video for the anthem, Cyrus was partially nude and received criticism for being too provocative.
"When me and Liam split up the first time with ‘Bangerz’ because I was this provocateur, like, highly sexualized," she explained.
The star also added this fulled her decision to dial down her image for the 2017 album Younger Now, with the pair having reconnected and subsequently gotten engaged in 2016.

Cyrus continued: "For ‘Younger Now’, the reason I kind of played into this innocence was because I think it was a way to keep - a way to stay - by being younger now and a less sexualized woman publicly, and this was a way to keep a happy home."
It isn't the first time Cyrus has been candid about her relationship with Hemsworth, after detailing how she had pretended she had already lost her virginity when they first spoke.
"I couldn’t think of anyone so I just made somebody up that I knew but we’d never actually had sex before," she said while appearing as a guest on the hit Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper.
She 'held on' to the lie for nearly 10 years, but was forced to own up when one of Hemsworth's friends ended up marrying the man she claimed to have lost her virginity to.

"So then [Hemsworth] was like, ‘Now my friend is marrying someone you’ve hooked up with'," Cyrus recalled. "So then - when I was like 24 - I had to say that I lied when I was 16.”
